Boston Celtics first-round pick Aaron Nesmith on Tuesday informed reporters that he is fully recovered from a foot injury suffered last season at Vanderbilt and will be ready for the start of training camp.

Nesmith, who was the 14th overall pick, missed significant time after enduring a season-ending stress fracture in his right foot. He averaged 23 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 14 games before his season ended on Jan. 8.

“I’ll be good to go,” said Nesmith, who was signed by the Celtics on Tuesday. “I’ve done everything so far workout wise. It’s good. It’s 100% and I won’t miss a beat.”

Of course, the Celtics likely did a fair amount of homework on Nesmith and his injury prior to taking him last week in the NBA draft. He emerged as a fantastic shooter in college, converting on 52.2% of his 8.2 3-point attempts last season, and figures to fill a big need for Boston.

With Gordon Hayward moving on to the Charlotte Hornets, the Celtics will have a big hole to fill in the lineup. While Nesmith likely won’t be able to fill it immediately, he could be a candidate for a larger role down the road with some added development.

Nesmith will wear No. 26 with the Celtics next season.
