CD Projekt RED is opening a new studio in the United States to lead the development of a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Paweł Sasko, quest director for the original Cyberpunk 2077 game, posted the announcement on Twitter (which Video Games Chronicle first spotted), where he said he the new studio will call Boston its home and help contribute to the series’ future.
“I’m moving to Boston together with the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 to establish [a] new studio and be the foundation for the North American team,” Sasko said. “Working together with the Vancouver crew and the devs from Warsaw we are going to deliver you a banging next game!”
CDPR already has offices in Vancouver and Los Angeles, but this new studio will be the first on the east coast. While Sasko didn’t specifically say the “next game” the team is working on Cyberpunk’s sequel, he posted a custom variation of the “Let’s go” meme where the smiley face is wearing V’s jacket and has cybernetic modifications.
From the sound of it, CDPR will need all the help it can get. The studio promised to release three substantial RPGs over the next six years, alongside entries in The Witcher series. Given CDPR’s record of intense crunch, hopefully, a new studio and more staff will help alleviate the pressure on the company’s other teams.
