CBS WNBA Power Rankings already calling Caitlin Clark ‘the real deal’

It has only taken half of her first season, but Caitlin Clark is already being called “the real deal” by CBS Sports.

It may only be 26 games into her rookie year, but Caitlin Clark, like with the Iowa Hawkeyes, has wasted no time in asserting herself in the WNBA. The No. 1 overall draft pick is on a runaway train to win the Rookie of the Year and shows no signs of slowing down.

Setting record after record, Clark has the Indiana Fever turning things around and sitting in a playoff spot at the moment. The Fever hold the No. 7 spot which would be their first playoff appearance since 2016 if they can maintain things after the Olympic break.

Her performance has the Indiana Fever ascending to No. 6 in CBS Sports’ WNBA Power Rankings and the media has already called her “the real deal” in her young career.

The good: Caitlin Clark is the real deal

In the last game before the break, Clark set the WNBA’s all-time single-game assist record with 19 and now leads the league in assists at 8.2 per game. It took her a few weeks to settle in, but she’s now established herself as arguably the best playmaker in the league and is the clear favorite for Rookie of the Year. – Jack Maloney, CBS Sports

After an onslaught of games to start her rookie year, Clark showed the league that all she needed was a little bit of rest to turn things on and find her groove.

With a month off now while the Olympics take place, a team she was snubbed from, Caitlin Clark will be getting some of the most rest she has had in the last calendar year. She played her senior year at Iowa and went immediately into WNBA action.

Some rest and recovery could be all she needs to continue the Fever’s ascent in power rankings and possibly into a higher playoff seed.
