Florida took care of business on Saturday against a Vanderbilt team that is one of the worst in the Power Five, but even a convincing 42-0 shutout likely won’t be enough to move the needle too much for the Gators.
CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson thinks that UF will see a slight increase in this week’s AP Top 25, but he only has the team rising one spot from No. 20 to No. 19 in his latest college football rankings.
No major adjustments in the rankings after a 42-0 win vs. Vanderbilt.
The games that will prove to be really decisive for the Gators are up next. They travel to Baton Rouge next weekend to take on an LSU team that has lost its last two games, including a 42-21 drubbing at the hands of Kentucky on Saturday night.
After that, Florida has a bye before its crucial matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville, who will almost certainly be ranked No. 1 heading into that game. Tough tests remain for the Gators, but they got back on the right track against the Commodores, and they will have a chance to at least partially salvage this season.
