With just two games left in the regular season, not only are we closer to bowl season, but we are also closer to the 2022 NFL Draft. We’ve spent the past few weeks highlighting some key Penn State players that have been in first-round mock drafts.

Guys like Jahan Dotson, Brandon Smith and Jaquan Brisker have all been featured in first-round 2022 NFL mock drafts. This week, however, we have a new name selected in the first round out of Penn State. This player has done nothing but soar his way up the draft boards the past few weeks.

The newest Penn State player featured in a first-round mock draft by CBS Sports is defensive end Arnold Ebiketie. CBS Sports writer Chris Trapasso has Ebiketie being selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 13th overall pick.

The Vikings desperately need pass rusher help. Sure, they did extend Danielle Hunter, but they still lack depth on the outside. The Temple transfer has had an impressive season at Penn State and would be a nice addition to a team in need of help getting to the quarterback.

Ebiketie has developed into one of the most productive players on the Penn State defense this season. He has become much more active with his hands and is extremely quick off the ball.

Ebiketie is having a career year with the Nittany Lions, with 31 solo tackles, 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Ebiketie also excepted to receive a Senior Bowl invite this week down in Mobile, Alabama. Jesse Luketa has accepted his invite already.

There are a good amount of analysts out there that have Ebiketie as a day two draft pick, but his rise this season has been noticeable. This is a talented edge rusher class, but if Ebiketie keeps this performance up, he could hear his name called earlier than expected come April.

As of right now, it seems very likely that Penn State will have four defensive players selected in the first two rounds of the draft. You can now add Ebiketie to that list of impressive players coming out of State College.
