The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are attempting to change their look, and they have attempted to do so by trading for former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. This comes just weeks after the signing of former New England quarterback Tom Brady.
Gronkowski has been retired since March of last year and did not play during the 2019 season. With one year left on his contract with the Patriots, Gronkowski made it clear he would only return to professional football under one condition: he is traded to Tampa to play with Brady.
The trade went through, and now the Buccaneers have their new tight end. The only question now is, what happens to former Alabama standout O.J. Howard?
Howard was drafted by the Buccaneers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and while his name still carries weight across the league, he hasn’t done too much to warrant any staying power.
With an opportunity to now play elsewhere Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports listed the top-five trade destinations that would be best for Howard.
5. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have former Penn State star tight end Mike Gesicki, but Dajani claims Howard would be an upgrade for them, especially if they plan on starting a rookie quarterback in 2020. With added draft capital and money to spend, he argues Miami can make this trade happen if they want to.
