CBS Sports expects the Ravens’ rookie tight ends to play a big role in 2022

The Baltimore Ravens had a phenomenal 2022 draft in which they selected 11 total players. Each has massive potential to be a key contributor for the team for many years in the future. Baltimore took prospects in all three phases, balancing out depth while also taking some of the best available talent on the board.

When listing out the five rookie tight ends who he believes will play the biggest roles in 2022, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports listed both of the Ravens’ rookie tight ends on his list in fourth-round selections Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely. He listed Kolar at No. 5 on his list and Likely at No. 4, first talking about how Kolar has good flexibility for his height.

“Kolar’s productivity was mostly due to unusual flexibility for his height, which allowed him to snap in and out of his breaks as a route runner, and he caught everything. Basically. Kolar only had two drops in 2021.”

Then, Trapasso talked about how Likely is a yards after the catch threat.

“Kolar and Likely are two different types of tight ends with unique talents to threaten underneath, at the intermediate level, and down the field. Likely projects as a more capable Deebo Samuel YAC treat. He’s higher than Kolar on this list because Kolar is much like Andrews. Likely provides more suddenness underneath to be targeted on high-percentage throws for Jackson.”

Kolar and Likely join a Baltimore tight end room that also houses veterans Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle, so there’s no shortage of talent between all four players. It looks as if the Ravens could go back to being more of a run-heavy team like was the case in 2019 or 2020, and that would mean there would be plenty of opportunities for Kolar and Likely to make an impact during their rookie years.
