Ed Orgeron led the LSU Tigers to a perfect 15-0 record and the national championship in 2019.
Could Orgeron now be on the hot seat, though?
Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports recently released his 2020 rankings of coaches on the hot seat, and Orgeron actually made the list.
According to Dodd, it’s not just because of LSU’s 2-3 record. The Tigers lost some outstanding coaches, including defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. Aranda’s replacement, Bo Pelini, has struggled and certainly could be on the hot seat.

There’s also the USA TODAY report regarding LSU allegedly mishandling sexual conduct complaints against football players.
Dodd has a scale of zero-to-five, with five under the category of win or be fired. He has Orgeron at three, which he labels as the pressure is mounting.
Here’s part of Dodd’s assessment of Orgeron and LSU.
The Tigers weren’t expected to repeat or even come close. Who would be after a 15-0 season? But this season has been a series of unfortunate events. The program couldn’t stand the loss of all that talent and those coaches. The defense has been a sieve. Myles Brennan was hurt, then the quarterback job was opened up for competition. Defensive coordinator Bo Pelini, well, he’s no Dave Aranda.
Orgeron is not likely on the hot seat. It’s been a tough year for the Tigers in many aspects. After losing so much talent to the NFL and other stars like Ja’Marr Chase just before the season, the Tigers were expected to have their share of struggles this season.
Regardless, Dodd’s take is still an interesting one considering the timing.
