March Madness officially begins for the Auburn Tigers on Friday when they take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the No. 2-No. 15 matchup in the first round. The Tigers are expected to be heavy favorites over their in-state competition.
Provided that Auburn and head coach Bruce Pearl takes care of business, they will move on to the Round of 32 to face the winner of the USC Trojans and Miami Hurricanes. Both games are to be played in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Just how far could we see War Eagle go in the annual tournament? One CBS analyst predicts that Auburn won’t get past the Sweet 16 in their first tournament appearance since the 2019 Final Four run.
“I love the potential Sweet 16 matchup of Wisconsin and Auburn,” Seth Davis said. “I think the Badgers can slow down the Tigers and win the game. That’s my call.”
The Regional Semifinals for the Midwest bracket will take place at the United Center in Chicago, the home of the NBA’s Bulls. This season Wisconsin finished 24-7 overall and won the Big Ten’s regular-season championship. They fell in the tournament to the Michigan State Spartans and the Iowa Hawkeyes ended up as the tournament champs.

Wisconsin-Auburn would be a physical matchup and given how the Tigers play defense, you would have to like their chances. They just need to have a better shot selection and not settle for threes.
