Just four days after entering the transfer portal, former Washington Huskies cornerback Jordan Shaw has found a new home, taking his talents to the SEC to play for coach Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Shaw was quite desired in the portal, taking official visits to USC and Texas A&M before On3’s Pete Nakos reported his decision early Sunday morning. The 6-foot-1, 173-pound Shaw played in every game for the Huskies in 2024 at the nickel position, starting 9, including the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, finishing the season with 37 tackles, 4 for loss, 6 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Elko could give Shaw an opportunity to win a spot on the outside, which could have been what ultimately led to his decision to leave Washington, since the No. 1 cornerback in the transfer portal, Arizona’s Tacario Davis, is widely expected to choose the Huskies.
Cracking the Aggies’ starting lineup may prove to be difficult at first for Shaw, with senior Tyreek expected to start in the nickel, with redshirt freshman Desmond Ricks and former Washington target Will Lee III projected to man the outside.
Shaw is an impressive player in coverage thanks to his fluidity and athleticism, but will need to continue to add weight to his frame to hold up to the physicality of the SEC.
