Cavinder Twins will start WWE training this spring

It appears college basketball’s loss may be WWE’s immediate gain.

When Haley and Hanna Cavinder announced on “The TODAY Show” they would not return to school for their final year of eligibility, it opened speculation about their next step. The twins signed with WWE’s NIL (name, image, likeness) program in December 2021, and when asked on the show about joining the recently-acquired wrestling company, they expressed admiration for WWE.

“Their fanbase, the sport, the fitness side of it,” Haley Cavinder said. “That fits Hanna and I’s brand and aligns great with us, and so they’re a great partner. And yeah we’re very excited about the future with them.”

While the Cavinder twins did not clarify a timeline for their WWE debut, their agent, Jeff Hoffman, told TheStreet their training will begin this spring at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL.

“The potential — what could be — I think they’d be excited if that type of opportunity presented itself for them to be main features in the WWE,” Hoffman said. “WWE fans provide such positive comments, feedback, and energy to the twins.”

The Cavinders have no wrestling experience, so it’s unfair to expect a television debut anytime soon, even on NXT. However, Hoffman thinks their collegiate athletic experience will make the transition from the court to the ring smoother.

“The WWE, they have a very specific training process — They don’t just fit people into storylines and say, ‘Here you go.’” Hoffman told TheStreet. “The twins are D1 athletes, they’re extremely fit, healthy, exercise constantly, but there’s also a process through the training to make sure you understand not only movements but safety.”

WWE already found quick success with Logan Paul’s transition from social media star to an in-ring performer receiving his own WrestleMania matches against top stars. So, will lightning strike twice? If yes, WWE’s answer to the next Bella Twins could be near.
