Ed Davis just signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday but the 11-year NBA veteran already wants to get to work with rookie Evan Mobley and help with the transition to the league.
The Cavaliers reportedly signed Davis to a non-guaranteed contract but the expectation is he will start the season with the team. He has established himself as a great veteran leader, a big reason why head coach J.B. Bickerstaff wanted to sign him.
That leadership and positive attitude were on display on Wednesday.
Davis addressed the media for the first time since joining the team, and quickly offered his help to Mobley. He believes Mobley has a bright future in the NBA and vowed to help him out along the way while he is still in Cleveland, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
#Cavs had Evan Mobley in mind with the Ed Davis signing:
"I want him to reach his full potential. Has a chance to make like $500 million in this league. But you have to perform, the team has to win, you have to stay healthy. Teaching him the process that it takes to get there"

Mobley believes he has the potential to be a generational player so his talent level and ability are there. However, players in the past have shown that it also takes a good support system and leadership around to find success and maintain it in the NBA.
With a long career on the horizon, the Cavaliers wanted to add another veteran presence around Mobley and Davis looks to check a lot of boxes for the organization.
