Miami at New Orleans Game Preview

Why Miami Will Win

Ian Book.

Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian are both out in the COVID protocol – to the chagrin of the only person playing fantasy football who needed one of them to be a go (hand raised) – and now it’s up to the okay Miami defense to take over.

It helps to face a slew of bad teams like Miami has over the six-game winning streak – lots of New York teams, to go along with a strong win over Baltimore – but the run defense has been great, no one has hit 300 yards in total offense in three weeks, and it shouldn’t take much from the offense to put this away.

Knock on wood, Miami seems to be over a bit of a hump when it cones to COVID issues. There’s a great balance to the attack to mix things up enough to try out a few options against a New Orleans defense that pitched a gem.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 16

Why New Orleans Will Win

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were held to no points.

Tom Brady and the offense wasn’t bad, but everything stalled in the 9-0 loss thanks to a brilliant day by a Saint D that has 12’s number.

Against Miami, the run defense should hold up just fine. Tua Tagovailoa is going to bomb away on this New Orleans secondary that doesn’t give up a whole slew of touchdown passes and has been better at limiting the big plays.

Hand the ball off to Alvin Kamara, hit a few midrange plays, hope the defense can get the job done two weeks in a row.

NFL Week 16 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Can the New Orleans defense keep the momentum going? Yeah, it’ll do just enough to overcome Ian Book’s issues.

There won’t be anything crazy coming from Book, but he’ll keep things moving on third downs. The offense will slow things down, control the clock, and it’ll get a big all-around day from Kamara to pull off a semi-shocker at home.

Indianapolis at Arizona Game Preview

Why Indianapolis Will Win

Things aren’t exactly going well if you’re getting rocked by Detroit.

Arizona was humming right along, and then came the tough Monday night loss to the Rams followed up by the inexplicable 30-12 blowout to the Lions.

The passing game is putting up yards, but the offense is stalling too often. James Conner is banged up for a ground attack that’s okay, but not good enough.

The bigger problem lately is the other side. The defense that’s been so strong all year is starting to struggle more and more against the run. Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford hit the passes needed to keep things moving, and overall, the team just doesn’t have its swagger. The efficiency and timelines of the big plays aren’t there – it’s like the team isn’t all on the same page.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 16

Why Arizona Will Win

Enough is enough – even at home.

It’s been an inexplicable problem that the Cardinals are usually fine on turnovers on the road and have issues at home, but there’s too much talent and too much of a sense of urgency to not start playing better, especially on defense.

The pass defense should be okay, and the speed and toughness are there up front to be far nastier the the front has been over the last few weeks. Even with all of the problems, the run defense isn’t getting destroyed.

Now it’s time for the offense to work, but …

NFL Week 16 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Again with the turnovers.

Arizona as given the ball away 11 times at home and just three times on the road. The disruptive Indianapolis defense is taking the ball away everywhere. It leads the NFL in takeaways with two more in every game but one over the last nine games.

The Colts won’t be great, but they’ll be balanced offensively and will come up with two takeaways on the other side to get out with yet another important win.

Cleveland at Green Bay Game Preview

Why Cleveland Will Win

The Browns are slowly starting to get their parts back.

They’re hardly all back full, and they’re losing guys as they’re bringing others back, but they should be more functional than the version that lost to the Raiders 16-14 last week.

Even with all of the issues, this is still a strong defensive team that should be able to keep the Packer offense from going off. Green Bay is shooting for a bigger, better seed, but it already clinched the division and a playoff spot. If there’s even a blip of a letdown, the Brown defense that’s been solid against the run and great at taking the ball away should take over.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 16

Why Green Bay Will Win

Yeah, there are still issues with the Browns.

Even though the team is slowly coming back, there’s still going to be a continuity issue. Between practice time and consistency, the machine isn’t going to start humming again in a hurry.

This was hardly a Brown offensive juggernaut before all of the problems. The team scores more than 14 points just once over the last five games and haven’t scored more than 17 in seven of the last nine games.

The passing attack isn’t there to keep up if Aaron Rodgers and company go off early, and the easy points shouldn’t come on takeaways – Green Bay doesn’t turn the ball over.

NFL Week 16 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Expect methodical rather than sensational.

Green Bay has settled into a nice groove over the last month, but it’s not razor-sharp. The offense is making up for a defense that’s slipping against the run, and the Browns should be able to run just well enough to keep this from getting brutally ugly.

All of the CFN NFL Predictions

San Francisco at Tennessee Game Preview

Why San Francisco Will Win

Tennessee is having injury issues on the offensive line with OT Taylor Lewan and OG Rodger Saffold out.

Tennessee backfield, welcome to the San Francisco defensive front.

The Titan offense has sputtered and coughed over the last few weeks, failing to score more than 20 points in any of the last four games with 13 turnovers in there losses and with little to no passing game.

AJ Brown is expected to be back soon, but Julio Jones hasn’t done much, and the playmakers aren’t getting the job done when the running game isn’t.

San Francisco’s offense has heated up. Deebo Samuel has been great, the running game has been solid, and the team has won five of its last six games with a whole lot of big pass plays and a good balance.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 16

Why Tennessee Will Win

So what’s going right?

It’s been a rough run over the last month, but the running game is doing a decent job without Derrick Henry. A slew of parts are being pieced together to hammer out over 200 yards in two of the last three games and with 100 yards or more in the last four.

The defense is still getting doing just fine against the run. New England is the only team to run for over 100 yards on the Titans in the last nine games, there aren’t too many big dashes allowed, and overall the game should stay close at home.

Even with the issues on the O line, get physical right away, try to control the clock, and …

NFL Week 16 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

San Francisco is playing too well and the Tennessee offense is just too mediocre.

At home, and with the season starting to slip, the Titan defense will come up with a gem to keep the close, but Ryan Tannehill and the passing attack won’t do enough to take advantage of the opportunities.

It’ll be a good fight, but the 49er offense will do a bit more defensively on third downs.

How Not To Start An Article Pumping Up The 5 Best NFL Playoff Picks …

This is a tough one to sell.

Buffalo has been amazing. It’s playing loose, it’s playing with swagger, and it’s playing like a team that’s on the ascension of something big as a 2 seed that in a just-and-right playoff system should be getting the week off.

From a rooting standpoint, you want this Buffalo team to win. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and the limited Bills Mafia in attendance will be going out of their collective minds.

Indianapolis isn’t just any 7 seed.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, in that same just-and-right playoff system the Colts aren’t even it it, but if they’re playing up to all of their capabilities, they become one awful matchup problem for these Bills.

In the NFC, New Orleans gets Chicago as the 7. The Colts really should be considered the 4th-to-5ish best team in the AFC.

The Buffalo running backs are fine and the rushing numbers are there, but the Colt D that hasn’t allowed more than 90 yards in five straight games.

The Indy pass defense isn’t totally awful, the offensive line is among the best in the league, Jonathan Taylor is rising up into superstar running back status, and Philip Rivers is a veteran who isn’t going to blink at the big game atmosphere and moment.

So forgive the lack of hard numbers, recent history, and data points to suggest that the Colts could hang within a touchdown of a Buffalo team that’s murdering everyone over the last six weeks.

Forgive the “feel” pick – the Colts keep this close. And if they don’t, all apologies, These other four picks should make up for it.

5. New York Jets at New England

LINE: New England -3
ATS PICK: New England
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

That’s pride kicking in.

New England might not be going to the playoffs, and it’s long been out of the Super Bowl hunt, but this is still a team full of players used to doing those big things.

No, you don’t go 6-9 in New England, and there’s a whole ton of rebuilding to do after it all fell apart, but this is still a better, stronger team that it showed over the last three weeks.

It doesn’t help that they played the Rams, Dolphins and Bills – three to the stronger defenses.

Meanwhile, the Jets haven’t been all that bad. They’ve won two straight and should’ve been on a run of three in the last four – the collapse against Las Vegas ruined that – and they’re coming off a brilliant defensive game against a depleted Cleveland that couldn’t get the O going. However …

After being embarrassed on national TV in a 38-9 loss to the Bills, the Patriots are about to close strong. The running game will work, Cam Newton will be fine, and the Patriots will meltdown offensively in the fourth.

Giving away three won’t be an issue.

Kansas City Chiefs (14-1) vs Los Angeles Chargers (6-9) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Los Angeles Chargers Will Win

Kansas City doesn’t care.

Oh it’ll put a football team out there, and it’ll have to play enough starters to have a game, but the main guys aren’t going. Chad Henne will get the start with Patrick Mahomes sitting out, the star receivers aren’t going to play, and with the No. 1 seed all locked up, the Chiefs will get a full two weeks to be able to rest anyone up.

The Chargers pushed the Chiefs into overtime way back in late September when both teams are fully functioning – it was Justin Herbert’s first game – and now the team is on a three-game winning streak with the offense playing well and the defense doing a great job of taking the ball away.

Why Kansas City Chiefs Will Win

The Kansas City backups will try.

It’s a weird situation. If the team sort of needed it, there might be a half-hearted attempt to win this. However, this is audition time for a whole lot to KC players who’ll want to either keep a job of have film for other places.

The Chargers are still having problems running the ball, the KC D will still be strong against the ground game even with a few guys out, and the coaching staff is still going to run things as close to normal – at least trying to without No. 15 under center.

CFN Experts Picks: Week 17 NFL

What’s Going To Happen

Kansas City will be surprisingly solid for at least a little while, and then the team will just want to get to resting and relaxing already.

The Chargers will fight hard to close out with a four-game winning streak, the passing game will click just fine at home, and it’ll be a fun win for Los Angeles, if only to finish with seven wins and look solid in a great finishing kick.
