Titans vs. Dolphins: NFL experts make Week 4 picks

See who experts around the league are taking in a Week 4 matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins.

The Tennessee Titans (0-3) will visit the Miami Dolphins (1-2) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on Monday night.

Opening the week, the Titans were listed as 1.5-point road favorites but that spread has changed quite a bit since then with Miami now at -1 as of this writing.

Let’s take a look at who some of the experts and insiders around the league are taking in the Week 4 matchup:

Expert Pick Score (if applicable)
Dan Graziano (ESPN) Titans N/A
Matt Bowen (ESPN) Titans N/A
Seth Wickersham (ESPN) Dolphins N/A
Pete Prisco (CBS) Titans 25-21
John Breech (CBS) Titans 20-17
Jordan Dajani (CBS) Titans 17-10
Nate Davis (USA TODAY) Titans 20-13
Lorenzo Reyes (USA TODAY) Dolphins 17-13
Bill Bender (Sporting News) Dolphins  23-20
Vinnie Iyer (Sporting News) Dolphins  24-17

The Titans barely edge out the Dolphins in the view of the above panel with most expecting a low-scoring contest. And unanimously, they believe the game will be decided by a single score one way or another.

Other NFL experts and analysts are equally split on the game with 55 percent predicting an upset victory for Tennessee, per NFL Pickwatch.

Fans, on the other hand, see things going in a different direction. 51 percent are predicting a Dolphins home victory in primetime.

Titans vs. Dolphins: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 4

The Tennessee Titans take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 and here are three reasons for optimism in Miami Gardens.

The Tennessee Titans are preparing to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 action on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The Titans (0-3) again failed to get into the win column, falling 30-14 to the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday.

The Dolphins (1-2) struggled against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 and their high-powered offense has not looked the same since losing Tua Tagovailoa in Week 2.

There is a lot on the line for both teams and this should be an interesting installment of Monday Night Football. Here are three reasons for optimism heading into this match-up.

Dolphins quarterback situation

Who will be starting for the Dolphins this week? That is a great question and one that may not have an answer until kickoff. With Tua on injured reserve (IR) after suffering a concussion in Week 2, the Dolphins turned to back-up Skyler Thompson against the Seahawks.

Unfortunately, he left the game with a rib injury and was replaced by Tim Boyle. Though limited in practice on Thursday, there is no guarantee that he will be ready to go on Monday. If he can’t, will Boyle start or will they turn to recently signed Tyler Huntley to right their ship.

Head coach Mike McDaniel is playing his cards close to the vest. For the Titans, it should not matter who starts, their defense should have an advantage.

DeAndre Hopkins trending up

After missing most of training camp battling a knee injury, DeAndre Hopkins was much improved in Week 3. He recorded his best game of the season with six receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown against the Packers.

Now, after another week of practice, Hopkins appears ready to take the next step in his recovery and the season and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Titans. With the offense struggling, a healthy Hopkins could help open up the running game and take pressure off quarterback Will Levis and receivers Tyler Boyd and Calvin Ridley.

Defense should rebound

After the Week 3 debacle against the Packers, the Titans defense will be looking for redemption against the Dolphins and should face a similar attack. With the Dolphins quarterback situation in flux, the unit should be able to bounce back if they can keep running back Devon Achane in check.

They will face a tough match-up on the outside with receivers Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle, but with shaky quarterback play, the Dolphins will try to establish a running game to help open the passing game.

The defense has a favorable match-up and they can be better than they were in Week 3. This will be a great game to get back into form.

Titans vs. Dolphins: 3 causes for concern in Week 4

The Titans travel to Florida to face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and there are three reasons the Titans should be concerned about the game.

The 0-3 Tennessee Titans travel to Florida to face the 1-2 Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Titans are struggling horribly this season and they haven’t figured out how to fix the turnover issue. The Dolphins sole win was their season opener, but now they’ve lost starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to injured reserve with yet another concussion.

In a game where Tennessee is favored, they desperately need a win to boost morale. In order to do that, Will Levis has to stop turning the ball over. It’s a team effort to make that happen, he needs protection and available skill players to give the ball to. But that is the Titans’ biggest hinderance right now.

The Dolphins will have a new face under center with questions swirling about the health of Tua and if he will return this season, or ever. Still, they have some talented players that will be problematic for the Titans defense, and the Titans have a knack for shooting themselves in the foot.

That said, there are three causes for concern for the Titans entering their Week 4 matchup against the Dolphins.

Will Levis is still the quarterback

Let’s be real, Will Levis isn’t having a good season. He’s responsible for all eight of the Titans’ turnovers, and you can’t blame all 15 sacks on the offensive line. Brian Callahan and players in the locker room have come out in support of Levis and believe him to be the right choice. But if he continues to turn the ball over and cost the Titans games, how long will it take for Callahan to replace him with Mason Rudolph? Levis’ play is a concern and will guide the outcome of the game, regardless of who wins.

Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle

The Green Bay Packers destroyed the Titans over the middle last week. If Miami watches that film and uses Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle over the middle, similar to what is shown below, the Titans will have a massive problem on their hands.

Both receivers are dynamic players, and with a backup quarterback under center, the deep ball won’t be utilized as often. The Titans have to tighten up the middle on defense.

Defensive fatigue is real

The Titans defensive depth is incredibly slim, and the effect of that is starting to show on the field. The defensive players are taking more snaps than they would if they had healthy teammates, which is putting more wear and tear on their bodies. The more this happens, the faster they will tire out. At some point, it doesn’t matter which team is across the line of scrimmage because if the defense is too tired to stop anyone, the game is over before it starts.

That’s probably not the case this week, but the Titans have to figure out ways to get their defensive guys more rest. Their fatigue will still rear its head by the end of the game and could even be what costs the Titans a win if Will Levis hasn’t already thrown the game away.

Gimme Him: One player Titans would steal from Dolphins

The Tennessee Titans could use some consistency in their receiving corps, so this player would be an easy theft from the Miami Dolphins.

The Tennessee Titans will again try to grab that first win of 2024 when they take on the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Titans Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Dolphins’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades.

When the schedule came out, this looked to be one of the easier weeks to do that. Now, it is a touch challenging. The 2024 season has already had moments that have altered the NFL landscape.

Originally, this selection would have likely been quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. When healthy, he would have been a clear and complete upgrade over Will Levis. Unfortunately, he suffered another concussion in Week 2 and is on injured reserve (IR) with his career in question.

Now, in looking over the Dolphins’ roster, there are plenty of options available. However, one player stands far above the rest: wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

After watching the Titans’ first three weeks, they have lacked consistency from the wide receiver position. Calvin Ridley has been the most consistent, but that is still sporadic. DeAndre Hopkins was invisible until Week 3, and Tyler Boyd and Treylon Burks were even worse.

With Hill, the Titans would add one of the most consistent and dynamic playmakers in the game, who at the moment is stuck with sub-par quarterback play and his numbers have fallen off for 2024.

Coming off back-to-back seasons with 119 receptions and over 1,700 yards receiving, the Titans would add a game-changer to their receiving corps and a player who could replace Hopkins as the team’s top target.

With his elite speed, Hill has the ability to thrive even with the coverage rolled his way. Which, in turn, would open up the rest of the receiving corps in the passing game.

What are your thoughts, Titans fans? Would you pick Tyreek Hill or steal an entirely different player from the Miami Dolphins?

Titans vs. Packers Player of the Game: DeAndre Hopkins

The Tennessee Titans fell to the Green Bay Packers at home in Week 3, but DeAndre Hopkins showed up and earned Player of the Game honors.

The Tennessee Titans dropped their third game in as many weeks today when they lost to the Green Bay Packers 30-14 at home.

It was more of the same from quarterback Will Levis as he threw an interception and fumbled the ball once, and the defense struggled for the first time this season.

It wasn’t all bad, though, as Levis and head coach Brian Callahan finally found a way to get wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins more touches on the ball, and the result is Hopkins being named this week’s Player of the Game.

Over the season’s first two games, Hopkins was practically invisible, catching two of three targets for a whopping 17 yards. Today, he caught six of seven targets for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Unfortunately, Hopkins’ play was hindered by Will Levis’ three turnovers, the defense’s inability to stop Malik Willis, and the rest of the Packers’ offense.

Hopkins joined the Titans last year after spending seven years with the Houston Texans and three with the Arizona Cardinals. He has been slowed this year by an MCL injury, but it looks like the Titans are figuring out how to use him again, which is one of the necessary pieces for putting together a win.

Titans vs. Packers: NFL experts make Week 3 picks

See who experts around the league are taking in a Week 3 matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers.

The Tennessee Titans (0-2) will host the Green Bay Packers (1-1) at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.

Opening the week, the Titans were listed as 1.5-point home favorites and that spread has only improved with Green Bay now at +2.5.

Let’s take a look at who some of the experts and insiders around the league are taking in the Week 3 matchup:

Expert Pick Score (if applicable)
Dan Graziano (ESPN) Packers N/A
Matt Bowen (ESPN) Titans N/A
Seth Wickersham (ESPN) Titans N/A
Pete Prisco (CBS) Titans 21-17
John Breech (CBS) Titans* 24-17
Jordan Dajani (CBS) Titans 20-17
Nate Davis (USA TODAY) Packers 24-17
Lorenzo Reyes (USA TODAY) Packers 17-10
Bill Bender (Sporting News) Packers  21-16
Vinnie Iyer (Sporting News) Titans  17-16

Although the Titans opened as favorites and saw the spread move more in their favor as the week progressed, the above panel remains split on the game. John Breech also offered two picks depending on the availability of Jordan Love on Sunday.

If Love plays, Breech has the Packers winning 24-17. If not, he’s going Titans with the same score.

Other experts from around the league are equally split on this game with 60 percent picking a Packers victory, per NFL Pickwatch.

Fans are even less confident with the Titans. Only 37 percent predict a Tennessee win.

Titans vs. Packers: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 3

The Tennessee Titans take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 and here are three reasons for optimism in Nashville.

The Tennessee Titans are preparing to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 action on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. The Titans (0-2) again failed to get over the hump and fell to the Jets in a competitive game that they could have easily won.

The Packers (1-1) rallied around backup quarterback Malik Willis and got their first win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

There is a lot on the line and this should be an interesting game the Titans have three reasons to be optimistic that they can finally get into the win column.

Steve Roberts-Imagn Images

The defense is better than advertised

The Titans’ defense again answered the bell and did a good job holding the Jets in check. It wasn’t quite the dominant performance from Week 1, but the Jets have a better offense than the Chicago Bears. The Titans’ defense is ranked first in total defense after Week 2 and should present a challenge to the Packers, regardless of who takes the snaps. The Packers do have a strong running game, but they haven’t faced a tandem like Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat in 2024.

Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images

Green Bay’s quarterback situation

With starter Jordan Love battling a knee injury, the Packers may again turn to Willis. For the Titans, that shouldn’t matter. If Love plays, he will be limited from a mobility perspective, which could impact play-calling. If Willis is the man, the former Titans quarterback has only been in the system for a few weeks and will face a defense that understands his tendencies. Yes, he does add a mobility element that Love doesn’t have at the moment, but he is nowhere near as accomplished as a passer. This has to favor the Titans.

Mike Dinovo-Imagn Images

The kicking game

Not the punting unit, that’s a whole other topic, but Nick Folk vs. Brayden Narveson. Narveson, who was also in training camp for the Titans, is young and inexperienced and a return to Tennessee should add a little tension during his attempts. In a game that is likely going to be a low-scoring affair, a missed field goal or extra point could change the entire complexion of the game. Folk may not have the biggest leg, but his experience could pay dividends in this match-up.

The Titans have many reasons to be optimistic, but we will have to wait until Sunday to find out if that optimism was warranted.

Titans vs. Packers: 3 causes for concern

The Titans host the Packers at Nissan Stadium in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season and there are three causes for concern for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans host the Green Bay Packers at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Sunday. The Titans have struggled to open their season, losing both outings thus far. They are improved over last season, but mistakes made by Will Levis at critical points in the game have doomed the outcomes.

The Packers, meanwhile, won their last game after opening their season with a loss, and they did it behind backup quarterback and former Tennessee Titan Malik Willis. Willis is a different quarterback than Jordan Love, but he managed to will his team to a win last week.

The Titans have their work cut out for them with the Packers, regardless of which quarterback plays. Their ground game will challenge the stoutness of the Titans run defense, and the offense has to clean up the mistakes. That said, here are three causes for concern for the Titans this week:

Will Levis’ turnover woes

Will Levis has a turnover problem. He’s thrown three interceptions and is responsible for multiple fumbles. The issue with him isn’t necessarily the turnovers themselves, but the timing of them. His mistakes always seem to happen in critical moments when the Titans could swing the momentum in their favor. The Titans have to clean this up

The Josh Jacobs factor

Josh Jacobs is consistently among the top of the running back rankings in the NFL. At 5-feet-10 and 223 pounds, Jacobs is a bulldozer coming down the field and isn’t easy to stop. The only thing aiding the Titans is a nagging back injury that could slow Jacobs down, but he’s going to be a problem on Sunday.

Turnovers

Will Levis has three interceptions, and the team has lost two fumbles. A punt has been blocked in both games, and if it happens again this week, the Titans will tie a decades-old record. In addition, the Titans have zero takeaways. If that continues, Sunday’s outcome will be the same as it was the last two weeks.

Gimme Him: One player Titans would steal from Packers

The Tennessee Titans could use some help along their offensive line, so this player would be an easy theft from the Green Bay Packers.

The Tennessee Titans will try to break into the win column when they take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Titans Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Packers’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades.

In looking over the Packers’ roster, there are plenty of options available. However, one player stands far above the rest: right tackle Zach Tom.

After watching the Titans’ first two weeks, it’s clear they have a defense in place to be a contender. Unfortunately, quarterback Will Levis is consistently under pressure and making terrible decisions. Some of this is on him but his offensive line, especially the right side, has not performed very well.

With Tom, the Titans would add a tremendous right tackle and solidify a unit that has been called out by head coach Brian Callahan. The 2022 fourth-round draft pick is versatile but has shown above-average skills as a right tackle.

In 2023, his first as a full-time right tackle, Tom graded out as the 18th-ranked tackle by PFF.

Tom would be a huge upgrade over starter Nicholas Petit-Frere, who has struggled on the right side.

What are your thoughts, Titans fans? Would you pick Zach Tom or steal an entirely different player from the Green Bay Packers?
