Biggest takeaways from Day 3 of Titans training camp

A look at the biggest takeaways from the Titans’ third practice of training camp on Friday.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field for their third session of 2022 training camp on Friday, but with rain in the forecast the team moved everything indoors.

You can check out what happened on Day 1 here, and Day 2 here. You can also check out the photos from Day 1 here, and Day 2 here.

The Titans appeared to have suffered their first injury of training camp, as cornerback Elijah Molden came up limping after falling down during a rep. We have video of the play below.

There is no update on his status right now, and chances are we won’t get one anytime soon with how the Titans keep injuries so close to the vest. Keep an eye on his practice participation in the coming days.

Running back Derrick Henry also left practice early after getting knocked down during a rep, although he appeared to be fine afterwards, so it was hopefully just a precaution.

Those are just two of the biggest takeaways from the Titans’ third practice of training camp. Here’s a look at the rest of the most notable occurrences from Friday.

Titans’ Elijah Molden exits practice with apparent injury

The Titans appear to have had their first injury of training camp on Friday.

The Tennessee Titans may have suffered their first injury of training camp on Friday after cornerback Elijah Molden exited the third practice with an apparent leg issue.

The injury occurred early on in the session when the Titans were running individual drills. Molden attempted to make a catch on a low throw but stumbled, fell down, and came up limping after getting up.

As is normally the case with injuries to Titans players, the information on Molden is scarce at the moment, and we aren’t holding our breath for any kind of substantive update.

The second-year cornerback wasn’t the only player to leave practice early, though. Running back Derrick Henry got knocked down during team period, forcing his early exit from practice, but he appeared to be fine.

The Titans will have another practice on Saturday before an off day on Sunday. After that, Monday will be Tennessee’s first padded session of training camp.

Tennessee Titans training camp: Photos from Day 2

Photos from the Titans’ second training camp practice on Thursday.

The Tennessee Titans held their second practice of 2022 training camp on Thursday in what was a mostly uneventful session, as players went half speed during team period.

However, the Titans did have a special guest in wrestling legend Ric Flair, who broke the team down following practice. You can check out all the events from Day 2 right here.

Now a look at some photos from the Titans’ second training camp practice.

Titans’ Mike Vrabel praises Aaron Brewer: ‘He’s tougher than a $2 steak’

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel heaped praise on Aaron Brewer, who is vying for the left guard job.

Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Aaron Brewer is vying for the left guard job in training camp after spending his first two years in the league as a reliable backup.

For much of the offseason, we’ve been saying the competition will be fairly even but that Brewer has the advantage over fellow lineman Jamarco Jones thanks to his experience in the offense and the coaching staff’s familiarity with him.

On Thursday, head coach Mike Vrabel only strengthened our belief that Brewer is the favorite for the job when he heaped praise on the 2020 undrafted free agent, saying Brewer is “tougher than a $2 steak.”

“[Brewer is] explosive, he’s quick, he’s tougher than a $2 steak,” Vrabel said when asked how Brewer overcomes his smaller frame. “He understands the angles and trying to get to guys, and understands pad level, technique, and those are a lot of things that he can do that somebody that’s bigger can’t, just the way that he moves. I just like the way he competes, I like the way that he shows up to work everyday and is willing to compete.”

When Brewer spoke to the media earlier this offseason and was asked about people who doubt him because of his size (6-foot-1, 274 pounds), the Texas State product brushed it off, saying it’s something he’s heard before.

“I’ve heard that forever, from high school up to this point now,” said Brewer, via Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. “But it didn’t stop me then, and it’s not going to stop me now.”

Biggest takeaways from Titans’ second practice of training camp

The Titans held a light practice on Day 2 of training camp, but had a special guest.

The Tennessee Titans were back on the practice field on Thursday for their second practice of training camp after holding their first on Wednesday.

Just in case you missed the events of Day 1, you can check them out right here.

Unfortunately, Day 2 was far less eventful, as Titans players took part in drills and went half speed during team period, leaving us dry in the play highlights department.

However, the Titans did manage to add a little excitement by bringing in wrestling legend Ric Flair, who is in town for his final match this week.

“I loved [Mike Vrabel] as a player in New England. He just reached out to me and said, ‘you want to come to talk to the Titans?’ I said, ‘hell yeah,’” Flair explained, per Ben Arthur of The Tennessean. “My favorite player in the NFL right now is Derrick Henry. Hated him at Alabama, I love him here.”

Now a look at all the biggest takeaways from Thursday.

Ric Flair attends Titans practice, calls Derrick Henry his favorite player

Flair also believes Titans head coach Mike Vrabel could make it in the WWE.

The Tennessee Titans had a rather uneventful practice on Thursday during the second day of training camp with players going half speed during the team period, but a special guest spiced things up a bit.

With the WWE’s SummerSlam set to take place at Nissan Stadium this week, wrestling legend Ric Flair, who will be taking part in his final match at the event, stopped by practice and addressed Titans players.

Following his talk with the players, Flair spoke with the media and admitted that Derrick Henry is his favorite player, which made coming to Titans practice even more exciting for the 73-year-old.

“I loved [Mike Vrabel] as a player in New England. He just reached out to me and said, ‘you want to come to talk to the Titans?’ I said, ‘hell yeah,'” Flair explained, per Ben Arthur of The Tennessean. “My favorite player in the NFL right now is Derrick Henry. Hated him at Alabama, I love him here.”

When asked what he likes most about Henry, “The Nature Boy” pointed to Henry’s speed.

“I didn’t realize he had that speed. When he gets in the open, he turns it up. I didn’t see that in college; I just saw a hell of a running back,” Flair said. “2,000 yards; think about it: that puts him in the same class as Adrian Peterson and people like that.”

Flair was then asked if he thought head coach Mike Vrabel could make it in the WWE. To nobody’s surprise, his answer was yes, and we couldn’t agree more.

“He’s big enough; I forgot how big he is,” Flair responded. “Remember, he was a linebacker so, probably at 260 right now. Absolutely, I can tell by talking to him he’s tough.”

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear what Flair said to the players, but in the two videos below you can hear the Titans playing his walk-up music as he approaches the players, and we also got a “woooo” at the end.

Tennessee Titans training camp: Photos from Day 1

Some photos from the Titans’ first practice of training camp on Wednesday.

The Tennessee Titans took part in their first practice of training camp on Wednesday, July 27, and there were some great photos to come of it.

Not only did we get to see the players in action, we also saw them with their families, as safety Kevin Byard, running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill were among those to bring their loved ones to practice.

In case you missed the events of Day 1, you can check them out right here. Now, a look at some of the photos from Tennessee’s first session of training camp.

Every NFL team’s top position battle to watch in training camp

These are the NFL’s top roster battles to keep an eye on in training camp.

Training camp has arrived, which marks the unofficial start of the 2022 season. All 32 NFL teams have kicked off camp, where there is no shortage of storylines to monitor this summer.

With training camp comes plenty of competition, especially after changes on the roster this offseason. Veterans and rookies alike will be looking to prove themselves in hopes of landing a roster spot or winning a starting job.

Our NFL Wire editors identified the top position battle to watch for each team this summer, which includes several noteworthy starting jobs up for grabs

Watch: Titans’ Treylon Burks makes great catch on deep ball at practice

Titans WR Treylon Burks made a nice catch on a deep ball during Day 1 of training camp.

After a shaky start to his career with the Tennessee Titans, 2022 first-round pick and wide receiver Treylon Burks wasted no time righting the ship in Tennessee’s first training camp practice on Wednesday.

Not only did Burks shine on the field, he also participated fully and looked to be in better shape, which is a great sign after he dealt with conditioning issues earlier this offseason.

As far as those conditioning issues are concerned, Burks took accountability for not being fully ready.

“I would say yeah,” Burks said when asked if he could have done more to prepare, per Paul Kuharsky. “That’s just being accountable; I should have taken a better attack on that and now that I am, you can tell a big difference.”

According to Ben Arthur of The Tennessean, Burks had two notable catches during Tennessee’s first training camp practice, one of which was a deep ball down the sideline.

The Titans were nice enough to share a clip of the play, which showed Burks adjusting and extending to make a nice catch.

Burks’ strong showing on Day 1 should put fears about him to bed. Now, he has to focus on learning and improving his chemistry with Ryan Tannehill if he wants a big role out of the gate.

Biggest takeaways from Titans’ first training camp practice

Treylon Burks was among the Titans’ biggest standouts during the first practice of training camp.

For the first time since players reported for training camp this week, the Tennessee Titans took the field for practice on Wednesday.

The biggest storyline of Day 1 was no doubt 2022 first-round pick and wide receiver Treylon Burks, who participated fully in practice and was among Tennessee’s biggest standouts.

After practice, Burks also showed maturity by taking responsibility for not being ready conditioning-wise earlier this offseason.

“I would say yeah,” Burks answered when asked if he could have done more to prepare, per Paul Kuharsky. “That’s just being accountable; I should have taken a better attack on that and now that I am, you can tell a big difference.”

Also of note was the practice participation of defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. The former first-round pick is seeking a new deal but is still participating in practice while the two sides work things out.

Now, the rest of the biggest takeaways from Day 1.
