Updated SEC football standings after Week 13’s action

Here is how the SEC standings look after Week 13.

With the conclusion of Saturday’s action, we have only one week remaining in the 2024 SEC football regular season. It also means we have only one week remaining until we find out which SEC teams will make it to Atlanta for the conference’s title game.

The conference standings also received a significant shakeup this past Saturday, as multiple upsets occurred across the SEC that affected the potential SEC title game outlook.

Here are the latest SEC conference standings coming out of Week 13:

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 13

1. Texas (6-1)

2. Georgia (6-2)

T-3. Tennessee, Texas A&M (5-2)

5. South Carolina (5-3)

T-6. Alabama, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss (4-3)

10. Florida (4-4)

T-11. Arkansas, Vanderbilt (3-4)

T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (2-5)

15. Kentucky (1-7)

16. Mississippi State (0-7)

Alabama’s loss to Oklahoma in Week 13 devastated their SEC championship game hopes. The Crimson Tide would’ve had the inside track to Atlanta with a win, but they are now eliminated.

At the moment, the Texas Longhorns are the lone SEC team with only one loss in conference play and will be in Atlanta if they beat Texas A&M on Saturday. The same thing can also said for the Aggies. The winner of that game will play Georgia in Atlanta for the SEC championship.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 12’s action

Here is how the SEC standings look after Week 12.

Yet another week of SEC football action has come and gone, and the conference’s championship game picture has become cloudier as a result of Saturday’s results.

Yes, after the Georgia Bulldogs upset the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night in Athens, there are only two one-loss SEC teams remaining. However, how does that game and others from this past Saturday affect the SEC standings?

Let’s answer that question by taking a look at the updated SEC conference standings coming out of Week 12.

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 12

T-1. Texas, Texas A&M (5-1)

3. Georgia (6-2)

4. Tennessee (5-2)

T-5. Alabama, Ole Miss (4-2)

7. South Carolina (5-3)

T-8. Missouri, LSU, Vanderbilt (3-3)

T-11. Arkansas, Florida (3-4)

T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (1-5)

15. Kentucky (1-6)

16. Mississippi State (0-6)

As mentioned, there are only two SEC teams with one conference loss: Texas and Texas A&M. However, the Longhorns and Aggies play each other in two weeks.

Alabama is 4-2 ahead of its Week 13 trip to Oklahoma, and rival Auburn is lurking right after. The Crimson Tide, should they win both of those games, could make it to Atlanta for the SEC championship game.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 11’s action

Here is how the SEC conference standings look after Week 11:

Overall, Week 11 in the SEC was definitely one of the more memorable that the conference has seen so far this season.

Saturday’s slate across the SEC featured a notable Top 25 upset in Oxford, while a pair of conference powers faced off in Baton Rouge in a result that shocked many across college football.

Let’s take a look at the latest SEC football conference standings after Week 11’s action:

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 11

T-1. Tennessee, Texas A&M (5-1)

3. Texas (4-1)

4. Georgia (5-2)

T-5. Ole Miss, Alabama (4-2)

T-7. Missouri, LSU (3-2)

9. South Carolina (4-3)

T-10. Vanderbilt, Arkansas (3-3)

12. Florida (2-4)

T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (1-5)

15. Kentucky (1-6)

16. Mississippi State (0-6)

While they will still need help to get there, Alabama helped their chances at making the SEC title game on Saturday with their 42-13 win at LSU. The Crimson Tide now sit at 4-2 in SEC play with only two conference games remaining to play.

Coming out of Week 11, two teams also sit atop the SEC standings at 5-1 in Tennessee and Texas A&M. Texas is also the lone remaining SEC team with one loss, sitting at 4-1.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 10’s action

Here is how the SEC looks after Week 10.

Week 10 provided the toughest test yet for the last conference unbeaten in the SEC: The Texas A&M Aggies traveled to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Elsewhere, an SEC rivalry was renewed in Jacksonville while a few other notable results happened across the conference.

So, coming out of this week’s action, let’s take a look at the SEC conference standings entering Week 11:

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 10

T-1. Georgia, Texas A&M (5-1)

3. Tennessee (4-1)

T-4. Texas, LSU (3-1)

T-6. Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Alabama (3-2)

T-9. South Carolina, Arkansas (3-3)

11. Missouri (2-2)

12. Florida (2-3)

13. Oklahoma (1-4)

14. Auburn (1-5)

15. Kentucky (1-6)

16. Mississippi State (0-5)

The Alabama Crimson Tide are not in position to make it to Atlanta for the SEC championship game because the team has two conference losses. Alabama can help its chances with a win this week at the LSU Tigers. However, it would still need significant help.

Another prominent takeaway from Week 10 was that no team will go undefeated in conference play. Despite the road loss at South Carolina, Texas A&M remains in position to reach Atlanta. It is tied with the Georgia Bulldogs at 5-1 atop the SEC standings.

With multiple ranked matchups to be played this week, just how different could these standings look after Week 11?

Alabama’s Tyler Booker named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week

Booker received the honor by the conference Monday.

After the team’s impressive 34-0 win over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, Alabama Crimson Tide starting left guard Tyler Booker has been officially named the SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Booker was the lone Alabama player to receive an honor by the conference Monday, and shared SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week honors with Auburn’s Izavion Miller.

As to why Booker received the honor, the left guard was a key reason behind Alabama’s success offensively against Missouri where they out-gained the Tigers in total yardage a combined 486-239, in particular when it came to running the ball.

Booker helped pave the way for an Alabama rushing attack that amassed 271 yards and four touchdowns on 37 combined attempts, which translated to an average of 7.3 yards per carry. The Alabama left guard also did not allow a sack against Missouri in pass blocking.

A junior, Booker continues to be one of top offensive guards in all of college football this season, and will continue to be a key member of Alabama’s front.

Nick Saban says more parity playing in the SEC this season

Saban comments on the parity of the SEC this season.

If you have watched any college football this season, then one thing that you have likely realized is that the SEC seems to be a bit tougher top-to-bottom than you might’ve remembered in years past.

Well, former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban commented on this recently when asked a question on the parity of playing in the SEC this season as part of ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” this past Friday afternoon, saying:

“I think there’s more parity in the SEC because I think players want to come to the SEC,” Saban said. “So, the system that we have now allows more players with more experience and proven quality to be able to come to the SEC. In other words, it doesn’t have to just be recruiting.”

Saban also gave his thoughts on how this coming down to player acquisition, in particular the differences between recruiting high school players and the transfer portal, adding:

“Now you take a team like Ole Miss, and I think Lane’s done a great job there so I’m not being critical in this, but he’s actually used the portal to his benefit to be able to have a top-notch team. Other teams use recruiting like Georgia, they are still going to recruit. Alabama’s going to recruit. They’re going to use the portal some, but not as much, so that helps some of the teams that weren’t quite as good get better quickly so that they can compete with those top-level teams. I think the Big Ten, you’re going to see some of that, but I think those two conferences, because of the strength both those conferences have, they’re going to have a little bit of an advantage in this new day and age that we’re living in.”

Altogether, it certainly appears so far that the SEC is a more talented conference overall this season, especially at the top of the league. Is what Saban said a big reason as to why?

Updated SEC football standings after Week 9’s action

Here is how the SEC standings look after Week 9.

Week 9 of the 2024 SEC football season has now officially come to a close, which means that only one team from the conference now remains unbeaten in SEC play.

With the top two teams in conference play having played each other this past Saturday, let’s take a look at who sits atop the SEC standings now as we look ahead to Week 10:

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 9

1. Texas A&M (5-0)

2. Georgia (4-1)

T-3. Texas, Tennessee, LSU (3-1)

T-6. Alabama, Arkansas (3-2)

T-8. Missouri, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Florida (2-2)

12. South Carolina (2-3)

T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (1-4)

15. Kentucky (1-5)

16. Mississippi State (0-5)

After Week 9, Texas A&M is the lone team undefeated in conference play, as the Aggies defeated also previously unbeaten LSU on Saturday night, 38-23.

Alabama also remains largely on the outside-looking-in when it comes to a potential SEC Championship Game appearance, as the Crimson Tide will still need to win-out, as well as receive help from others. However, a win over LSU in their next contest, which is one of the teams ahead of them in the standings, would certainly help those chances.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 8’s action

Here is how the SEC looks after Week 8.

Headlined by a pair of Top 25 matchups, Week 8 of the 2024 SEC football season was arguably the biggest in the conference so far this year.

The SEC’s headline game came in Austin when the Texas and Georgia faced off, while another ranked-vs.-ranked matchup happened in Knoxville where Alabama traveled to Tennessee. Both of those games likely did not go as many across college football might’ve thought as well, with both results impacting the SEC conference standings coming out of Week 8.

Here are the latest SEC conference standings after Week 8 of the 2024 season:

SEC Football Standings after Week 8

1. Texas A&M (4-0)

2. LSU (3-0)

4. Tennessee (3-1)

T-5. Missouri, Texas, Vanderbilt (2-1)

T-8. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida (2-2)

12. Ole Miss (1-2)

13. Oklahoma (1-3)

14. Kentucky (1-4)

T-15. Auburn, Mississippi State (0-4)

Looking at Alabama in particular, the loss to Tennessee certainly did not help their SEC Championship Game aspirations, as the Crimson Tide are now one-of-three teams sitting with two conference losses. In order to make it to Atlanta, Alabama will need to win out, as well as receive some help from other teams.

At the moment, there are also two SEC teams who remain undefeated in conference play in Texas A&M and LSU. However, the likes of Georgia and Texas are lurking closely behind as we now look ahead to Week 9.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 7’s action

Can the Crimson Tide pickup yet another SEC win during Week 8 against their rivals in the latest edition of “The Third Saturday in October?”
