Rutgers men’s lacrosse moves up one spot in latest rankings

Rutgers men’s lacrosse is now third in the nation in this week’s Inside Lacrosse Rankings.

Fresh off a dramatic overtime home win over Penn State to close out the regular season, Rutgers men’s lacrosse moved up a spot in the latest poll from Inside Lacrosse.

The Scarlet Knights are now the third-best team in the nation according to the poll.

Rutgers finished the season 12-2 (4-1 Big Ten). They wound up second in the conference’s final regular-season standings. Their only losses of the year came at Maryland and Princeton, both ranked programs.

In fact, Maryland is the consensus top team in the nation, once again checking in atop the rankings. Princeton is seventh, moving down three spots from the previous week.

Rutgers closed out the regular season with wins at Michigan last week and then this past weekend against Penn State.

Three Big Ten teams made this week’s ranking led by No. 1 Maryland, No. 3 Rutgers and with No. 10 Ohio State moving up one spot from the last poll.

Next up for Rutgers is the Big Ten Tournament which will be hosted this season by Maryland.

Rutgers men’s lacrosse moves up in the latest Inside Lacrosse rankings this week.

After an impressive weekend road win in Big Ten play, Rutgers men’s lacrosse moves up three spots in the latest rankings from Inside Lacrosse.

Rutgers pulled off an impressive 13-12 win at Michigan on Saturday, upping the Scarlet Knights to 11-2 (3-1 Big Ten) on the season. It was a good bounceback for Rutgers, who lost the previous week at Maryland.

With the win, Rutgers moved up three spots and now sits fourth in the nation.

Maryland remains the undisputed top team in the poll. Maryland, Rutgers and No. 11 Ohio State make up the three Big Ten teams in the poll. Johns Hopkins is unranked but receiving votes.

The Scarlet Knights close out the season on Saturday against Penn State at SHI Stadium. The Big Ten Tournament, hosted this year by Maryland, begins on May 5.

Rutgers is fifth in the nation in the latest RPI update. Maryland, not surprisingly, checks in atop the RPI as well.

Moving on up: Rutgers women’s lacrosse moves up in latest poll

Rutgers women’s lacrosse moved up two spots in the latest Inside Lacrosse weekly poll.

It may have been a difficult week for Rutgers women’s lacrosse, but that didn’t stop the Scarlet Knights from making a move in the latest poll. No. 13 Rutgers have now lost two straight games, but they moved up two spots in this week’s poll.

Rutgers is now the third-highest ranked team from the Big Ten in the most recent ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll. No. 3 Northwestern is followed by No. 8 Maryland.

They are No. 11 in the latest RPI released by the NCAA.

On Saturday, Rutgers lost 21-13 at Northwestern. On the previous weekend, Rutgers dropped a 13-12 overtime loss to No. 23 Arizona State.

Rutgers, now 10-3 on the season with a 2-2 record in the Big Ten, is hoping to bounce back with a midweek game against Wagner.

The two losses in the Big Ten have been against Northwestern and Maryland, both programs ranked higher than the Scarlet Knights.

Last season, Rutgers beat Drexel in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and then lost in the next round to Stony Brook.

Following a difficult 17-9 loss to No. 1 Maryland on Sunday night, Rutgers men’s lacrosse took an unexpected slide down the latest poll.

Rutgers fell four spots to seventh in this week’s Inside Lacrosse Men’s Division I Media Poll.

Sunday’s loss at the juggernaut that is Maryland is the first for the Scarlet Knights this year in Big Ten play. Rutgers is now 10-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten.

Maryland is by head and shoulders the best men’s lacrosse program in the nation this year. This might be an all-time great team for the Terrapins.

The Big Ten schedule is coming to a close for Rutgers in a hurry. The Scarlet Knights will play at Michigan this upcoming Saturday and close out the season on April 23 against Penn State.

Rutgers is one of three Big Ten teams in this week’s poll, led by top-ranked Maryland, then No. 7 Rutgers and No. 9 Ohio State.

Princeton, who handed Rutgers their only other loss this season, is third in the poll with an 8-2 record.

Ahead of Sunday’s game against Maryland, the men’s lacrosse RPI had Rutgers as eighth in the nation. They were the top-ranked RPI in the Big Ten.
