Houston and South Carolina are currently favored to win the NCAA basketball tournaments

Now that football is over, let’s take a look at the current favorites to win the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.

With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror and the Kansas City Chiefs celebrating another title, it’s time to shift gears and focus on the next big event in sports: March Madness.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, it’s time to check in on the favorites to win both the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments.

Houston is the favorite at BetMGM to take home the trophy this season at +600, but Purdue (+800) and Alabama (+900) are nipping on the Cougars’ heels. There are a handful of teams that have seemingly separated themselves from the pack this season, but no team looks untouchable.

On the women’s side, No. 1 South Carolina is not only favored, they have nearly even odds at +100 at DraftKings. Stanford (+500), UConn (+600) and LSU (+800) are close behind.

Dawn Staley’s squad got a decisive and convincing victory over LSU on Super Bowl Sunday and already has wins over Stanford ad UConn this season.

Dawn Staley repped her hometown Philadelphia Eagles with an iconic jersey as South Carolina faced LSU

Staley won’t miss a chance to support her Eagles, especially not on Super Bowl Sunday.

It might be gameday for the No. 1 South Carolina women’s basketball team, but for Philadelphia native Dawn Staley, it’s also Super Bowl Sunday. Staley doesn’t mess around when it comes to rooting for her hometown Philadelphia Eagles, and she’s not going to miss an opportunity to show her support. Since the divisional round on January 29th — in which the top-seeded Eagles took down San Francisco — Staley has sported Philly-related sweatshirts and jerseys on the sidelines.

On this Super Bowl Sunday, Staley and the Gamecocks faced No. 3 (and also undefeated) LSU at home. To commemorate the occasion, she busted out an amazing Randall Cunningham jersey.

The good news is the Gamecocks will be done before kickoff. Can Staley get two big wins in one day?

Winners (Villanova) and losers (LSU) of the NCAA women’s basketball committee’s top-16 reveal

Kim Mulkey should’ve scheduled less cupcakes in non-conference play.

At halftime of the Stanford versus Arizona game on Thursday night, we got our first glimpse into how teams might be seeded in this year’s NCAA Tournament for women’s college basketball.

The NCAA’s Division I Women’s Basketball Committee does this twice a year. It’s sort of like those weekly College Football Playoff reveal shows, and it gives us an idea of how the committee might seed teams come March. While bracketology projections and power rankings are fun to debate, this reveal gives folks real insight into what the committee thinks.

In women’s basketball, being a top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament is crucial, because those teams get to host first and second round games at their home venues, giving the higher seed a coveted homecourt advantage.

The committee’s second reveal will be on Feb. 23, during halftime of the South Carolina versus Tennessee game. And the full and final bracket will be unveiled on March 12 – an unofficial holiday, better known as Selection Sunday.

Speaking of the Gamecocks, let’s get into the winners and losers of the first reveal.
