The AP Top 25 released a new poll after the week’s competition, and the Gators find themselves in worse position than they did last time around. Florida finally clawed its way back into the rankings before a loss to South Carolina, but even though it dropped out after that game, it received 16 votes in last week’s poll.
UF received no votes this time around. It returned to play on Tuesday after 13 days off and struggled mightily in a road loss to Arkansas, who is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. Florida looked much better in a win over Georgia on Saturday, but clearly the pollsters remain unconvinced.
Four SEC teams are currently ranked in the top 25: No. 6 Alabama, No. 20 Arkansas, No. 24 Missouri, No. 25 Tennessee. LSU didn’t crack the top 25, but it was the fifth-highest among vote recipients that missed the ranking with 32 votes.
