Florida’s position may be tenuous, but it continues to find itself almost universally considered an NCAA Tournament team. In the latest update to The Athletic’s projected tournament bracket, the Gators are shown as a No. 10 seed. According to this bracket, they would draw No. 7 Purdue in the first round.
They could see a conference foe early in the tournament if this bracket is right, as a win over the Boilermakers would likely result in a showdown with No. 2-seeded Alabama. Gonzaga is the top seed in the region.
This update came out before Florida’s victory over Georgia on Saturday, so UF could find itself in better positioning when the next update comes out.
It managed to stay in the tournament field this week by scoring a big upset win over then-No. 6 Tennessee, who it beat by 26. With the loss, the Volunteers are now projected as a three seed.
Also in the projected field from the SEC is No. 4 Missouri and No. 8 LSU. Arkansas just narrowly misses the cut, as they are in the First Four Out.
