Steelers T.J. Watt finally joining the Madden 99 Club?

EA might finally be showing T.J. Watt the respect he’s had coming for years.

Pittsburgh Steelers fans are used to their players getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the Madden video game series. Fans were especially upset this year when the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster ratings were released for Madden 25. However, after a dominant Week 1 performance, T.J. Watt looks like the closest NFL player to being added to the exclusive Madden 99 club.

This prestigious group includes some of the NFL’s best at their respective positions, such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, and Tyreek Hill. Steelers fans, along with fans of the video game, are keeping their reactions short and not-so-sweet: too little, too late. For years, Steelers fans have been clamoring for T.J. Watt’s inclusion, and at this point, it feels like a slap in the face.

Watt is approaching 100 career sacks. Should he get his 100th this week against the Denver Broncos he will be the fastest player to hit that mark not named Reggie White.

Steelers stars get the shaft in Madden NFL 25 launch ratings

Here is how the top Steelers rank in EA Sports Madden NFL 25.

EA Sports have trickled in all the launch ratings for Madden NFL 25 over the past week. Madden NFL 25 is set for a release date of August 16 and now we have a good look at how EA ranks the Pittsburgh Steelers in comparison to the rest of the NFL.

Spoiler: It’s not great. Only three Steelers ranked over 90 with EDGE T.J. Watt the highest with a 97.

Here is how the Top 12 Steelers stack up:

OLB T.J. Watt – 97

FS Minkah Fitzpatrick – 93

DE Cameron Heyward – 90

OLB Alex Highsmith – 89

MLB Patrick Queen – 85

WR George Pickens – 83

RB Najee Harris – 83

RB Jaylen Warren – 82

TE Pat Freiermuth – 82

K Chris Boswell – 81

G Isaac Seumalo – 81

CB Joey Porter Jr.  – 81

Not having Watt as one of the rare 99-rated players came as something of a surprise and seeing fellow LB Alex Highsmith just 8 points below him was just as shocking.

The Steelers offense was fairly well represented and seeing Harris and Warren with just one point separating them really highlights just how good the Steelers run game can be.

EA Madden NFL 25 trailer features Steelers QB Justin Fields as a kick returner

EA is just trolling Steelers fans at this point.

On Thursday, EA Sports released their first official trailer for NFL Madden 25, set to release on August 16. And as if the Pittsburgh Steelers needed any more controversy, the trailer features Steelers new quarterback Justin Fields running a reverse on a kickoff return with running back Cordarrelle Patterson.

We blame Pittsburgh running back Jaylen Warren for all this hoopla. Warren mentioned in passing something about special teams coordinator Danny Smith talking about using Fields on special teams as a return specialist and someone at EA decided to troll Steelers fans with kicking off the trailer with Fields and Patterson.
