Rob Gronkowski returns . . . to Fox Sports’ NFL coverage

Gronk is returning to the NFL, but not the way Bucs fans were hoping

Rob Gronkowski is coming back to the NFL, but not quite the way Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans were hoping.

The Bucs’ former tight end is joining Fox Sports’ game-day coverage, both parties confirmed Saturday night.

Gronk retired for the second time this past offseason, after two seasons with the Bucs. Many Tampa Bay fans were holding out hope that the future Hall of Famer would return to the team later in the season, but this might put a damper on that idea.

Julian Edelman celebrates Gronk’s retirement with fitting tweet

Julian Edelman celebrated Gronk’s retirement in a themed Tweet on Tuesday

Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement on Tuesday. Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was among those offering congratulations on Gronkowski’s career.

The two were teammates from 2010 to 2020, and managed to win three Super Bowls in the process. Edelman had a stellar Patriots career, recording 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns.

The pair was able to form a dynamic duo for Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots offense, and helped lead New England to successful heights.

Edelman took to Twitter to celebrate Gronkowski’s career, as yet another Patriots legend rides off into the sunset. Edelman’s tribute had a Calvin and Hobbes theme to it.

Time will tell what  the tight ends next venture is. One thing is for certain, he will have fun doing it

David Ortiz celebrates Gronk’s retirement with hilarious memory

David Ortiz congratulated Rob Gronkowski in the best way possible.

With former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski retiring on Tuesday, several prominent Boston sports figures extended their congratulations, including former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz.

Ortiz retired following the 2017 baseball season, marking the beginning of a changing of the guard in Boston sports. Ortiz was one of the greatest hitters in Red Sox history, recording 483 home runs and 1,530 RBIs. Those statistics are just a snippet of what he was able to bring to Boston, as he made an impact both on and off the field.

Ortiz congratulated Gronk on his retirement by posting a hilarious video of the two showcasing their musical talents in an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts.

If Gronkowski is looking for ideas to keep himself busy during retirement, a musical career would be intriguing to say the least.

Here’s when Rob Gronkowski will be eligible for Pro Football Hall of Fame

Rob Gronkowski’s five-year clock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame was pushed back when he came out of his original retirement.

Rob Gronkowski is officially retired, again.

The 33-year-old originally announced his retirement with the New England Patriots following the 2018 season. Tom Brady infamously joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he convinced his tight end to join the team for the past two years.

He dealt with injury issues his entire career and he finally decided to hang it up. Gronkowski has 631 receptions for 9,286 receiving yards and 92 touchdowns in his career — which should be enough of a resume to become a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

So, when will Gronkowski have his first opportunity?

His five-year clock was set back after making his return to the NFL, so Gronkowski will now be eligible in 2027.

It is more likely than not that Gronkowski enters as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Gronk has hilarious response to hot take from when he was draft prospect

Rob Gronkowski revisited an old take that was made prior to the 2010 draft.

Twelve years after the 2010 NFL draft, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski revisited an old take from the Boston Sports Journal’s Greg A. Bedard

Prior to the draft, Bedard tweeted that he did not see the fascination with Gronkowski, who was a tight end at Arizona at the time. The Patriots selected Gronkowski in the second round with the 42nd overall pick in the 2010 draft.

He would end up becoming the best tight end in Patriots history. With four Pro Bowls, four Super Bowl wins and 7,861 yards during a nine-year career, he established himself as one of the best tight ends in NFL history.

Gronkowski followed Tom Brady to Tampa Bay in 2020, where he was able to win another Super Bowl. All in all, Bedard’s take on the tight and ended up being inaccurate. Gronkowski shared a lighthearted moment with Bedard via Twitter on Thursday.

With the NFL draft set to take place next week, there may be more bold takes coming soon.

Rob Gronkowski’s agent says he’s undecided on playing in 2022

Will the 32-year-old continue breaking records with his QB in Tampa?

Will Rob Gronkowski continue to build on his Hall of Fame career?

The former New England Patriots tight end spent his last two seasons with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He remained relatively healthy and accrued 100 catches for 1,425 yards and 13 touchdowns. When Brady announced his retirement, Gronkowski’s decision to finally move on from football was likely much easier.

Now, Brady’s back for another season and he’s helping build out the Buccaneers to even be stronger than they were last year. Is that enough to keep Gronkowski in the game that’s beat him up physically?

According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, he’s still “undecided” on the 2022 season.

Gronkowski solidified a Hall of Fame ticket, he’s made over $70 million in NFL money and that doesn’t include the income from endorsements. It seems that the power of Brady could be the only force to have him continue his NFL career.

Rob Gronkowski applied a Bill Belichick teaching point amid Antonio Brown tumult

Rob Gronkowski has learned how to block outside noise.

Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has had to deal with many situations in his professional career. As a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the tight end has taken lessons learned during his time with the New England Patriots and applied them to his current situation.

Controversy surrounded the tight end’s former teammate Antonio Brown throughout the 2021 season. With the Buccaneers losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC divisional round on Sunday, that added another layer of adversity for Gronkowski and the Buccaneers.

Even still, Gronkowski referred back to lessons he learned in New England, in order to steer clear of any difficult situations.

“When things like that happen, it’s a big story,” Gronkowski told TMZ. “You’ve got to just focus on what you’ve got to focus on, and that’s what a lot of guys did in the locker room. A lot of professionals in the locker room just stayed focused on what you’ve really got to do, and that’s basically what I did, too. Because that outside noise, it can affect you if you let it get to you. But if you just block it out — that’s one thing I learned in New England big time in the nine years I was there: Block out the outside noise. And I’ve got to totally agree with that, man. It’s going to stick with my life forever.”

The tight end recorded 55 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games played this season. He tallied nine catches for 116 yards and a touchdown in Tampa Bay’s two-game postseason run.

As he enters his 10th season in the NFL, he is set to enter free agency — so long as he doesn’t retire. If he lands back in Tampa, he figures to be a major part of the Tampa Bay passing attack in 2022.

Rob Gronkowski explains why he was happy to serve a suspension in 2017

Well, that’s a surprising twist from the Patriots’ 2017 season.

Rob Gronkowski didn’t mind serving a suspension in 2017 when the New England Patriots went 13-3 and made it to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

That season was an odd one for New England, with reported tension growing between Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Gronk. Even though the team was having plenty of success, there were plenty of negative storylines surrounding the team.

Gronkowski addressed the strange situation during the eighth episode of the ESPN+ documentary series, “Man in the Arena,” about Brady’s career. Gronk illustrated just how weird it was while reflecting upon getting suspended for an extremely dirty hit on Tre’Davious White.

“I was happy,” Gronkowski said of learning about his suspension. “I was finally happy. I was like, ‘Yes, I’m away from football for a week. I get to recover my body.’ I mean, when you’re running full speed into people, it definitely was taking a toll on me.

” … I lost a paycheck — it was about $300,000, that game check — and I didn’t even care one bit. I was just glad I had a week off from football, because I needed it.”

Gronk suggested he didn’t mind getting away from the emotional tension, too.

“It was a tough season. It was a grind season, for sure. Let me tell you, it wasn’t really that fun of a year,” Gronkowski said. “It was just a little eerie, the atmosphere with the Patriots.”
