Celtics betting picks: The best bet for Friday’s game against Brooklyn

Our prediction and best bet for Friday’s Celtics-Nets game.

The Boston Celtics visit Atlantic Division rival Brooklyn on Friday night for a nationally televised game, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

Both the Celtics and Nets are dealing with some significant injury issues that will affect Friday’s game. Boston will be without Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker, and while the Nets are hopeful Kevin Durant will make his return, James Harden, Nicolas Claxton and Chris Chiozza are out, and Tyler Johnson is doubtful.

[UPDATE]: Durant has been ruled out for Friday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Nets -5.5
  • Money line: Nets -200 / Celtics +170
  • Over-under: 226.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The short-handed Celtics are playing the second half of a back-to-back after an impressive 99-86 win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. The Nets are hoping to complete a season sweep of Boston, after winning their first two meetings 123-95 and 121-109. The Nets have been fairly unpredictable of late, alternating wins and losses over their last eight games.

With Durant’s status uncertain and the Celtics playing without Walker and Brown, I’m staying away from the spread here, and instead taking the over 226.5. Boston has played two consecutive low-scoring games against the Bulls and Suns, but shouldn’t face much defensive resistance against the Nets on Friday. Brooklyn, meanwhile, has hit the over in six out of their last nine games. We could easily get into the 240s on Friday.

Prediction: Nets 123, Celtics 114

Bulls at Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Monday’s Bulls-Celtics game.

The red-hot Boston Celtics host the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and NBC Sports Chicago.

The Celtics (31-26) are on a six-game winning streak, and eased to a 119-103 win over the Bulls in their first meeting this season. Chicago (23-33) just snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over the Cavs on Saturday.

Zach LaVine is out for the Bulls, while Evan Fournier and Robert Williams are out for Boston. Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart are questionable.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -6.5
  • Money line: Celtics -275 / Bulls +220
  • Over-under: 215.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics have covered the spread in four consecutive games, and have hit the over in four of their last five games. With LaVine out and Boston playing it’s best basketball of the year, Celtics -6.5 is a good bet. The best bet on the board, however, might be over 215.5.

Boston has averaged 117 points per game during their current winning streak, and the Bulls don’t have a particularly fearsome defense, ranking 21st in the league in defensive rating. The Bulls have hit the over in five of their last seven. We’re sticking with the trends and taking over 215.5.

Prediction: Celtics 123, Bulls 107

Warriors at Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Saturday’s Warriors-Celtics game.

The Golden State Warriors visit the Boston Celtics for a nationally televised game on Saturday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ABC (read how to stream the game here).

The Celtics will be missing Evan Fournier and Robert Williams III again on Saturday, while the Warriors will be without James Wiseman and Eric Paschall. Kelly Oubre Jr. is listed as questionable with wrist soreness.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -4.5
  • Money line: Celtics -190 / Warriors +155
  • Over-under: 228.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Celtics are playing some of their best basketball of the season, with five consecutive wins and seven wins in their last eight games. Stephen Curry has been scorching hot for Golden State, with 30-point performances in each of the Warriors’ last seven games.

Both the Warriors and Celtics are fairly unpredictable of late in terms of the point total, but the bet I like the most in Saturday’s game is Steph Curry’s point total player prop. At BetMGM, Curry is currently listed at -125 to go over 31.5 points against Boston – and at his current rate, that seems like a lock.

In the month of April, Curry is averaging 39 points over eight games, and has hit over 31.5 in each of those starts. During that span, he’s been ultra-aggressive offensively, with 22.3 shots per game and 13.4 3-point attempts per game, both well above his season averages. Curry is openly talking about gunning for Klay Thompson’s record 14 3s made in a game, so it’s likely he’s going to come out firing. Take the Curry over and enjoy the show.

Prediction: Celtics 118, Warriors 113

Celtics at Lakers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Thursday’s Celtics-Lakers game.

The Boston Celtics visit the Los Angeles Lakers for a nationally televised game on Thursday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on TNT.

The Lakers are still without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Markieff Morris is listed as questionable with an ankle sprain. The Celtics will be without Evan Fournier, and Robert Williams has been downgraded to questionable on Thursday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -6
  • Money line: Celtics -250 / Lakers +195
  • Over-under: 213.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

The Lakers edged the Celtics 96-95 in their first meeting in Boston, but that was with a very different lineup than the one that will take the court on Thursday. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over their last eight games, going 5-3 against the spread in that span, while the Celtics are on a four-game winning streak, including impressive wins over the Blazers and Nuggets.

The Lakers are still playing solid defense, and Andre Drummond could be a problem for Boston, especially if Williams does not play. Yet I’m taking the Celtics -2 first half here at -125. The Celtics have been getting off to slow starts during their current winning streak, but are generally much better in the second quarter. Against a Lakers team lacking star power and playing at a fairly average pace, I’m less worried that the Celtics could struggle out of the gates again.

Prediction: Celtics 113, Lakers 106

Celtics at Blazers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Tuesday’s Blazers-Celtics game.

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics visit Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on TNT.

After falling two games below .500 and facing the danger of dropping out of the top eight in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics have responded by winning five of their last six games. The Blazers (31-22), meanwhile, have lost four of six and are looking to rebound from a dreadful offensive performance in a 107-98 loss to the Heat on Sunday.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Blazers -1.5
  • Money line: Blazers -120 / Celtics +100
  • Over-under: 228.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

This is an incredibly tough game to call. The Blazers are undoubtedly a stronger team than the Celtics, but Boston has been playing much better lately, while the Blazers have gone 1-3 against the spread over their last four.

Damian Lillard shot 3-of-10 from the field in what was one of his quietest offensive nights of the season against Miami, and the Blazers lost the turnover battle by 10. Jayson Tatum has been on fire for Boston. With the moneyline odds so even, this game is a coin-flip.

Instead of betting the spread, I’m taking Under 228.5. Portland has been an over machine for much of the season, but has scored more than 103 points just once in its last five games, and the under has gone 5-1 in its last six. For Boston bettors, the under has gone 8-1 over the last nine. 228.5 is a big number. Take the under.

Prediction: Blazers 113, Celtics 108

Nuggets vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (4/11)

Everything you need to know to wager on today’s game against Denver.

The Boston Celtics play the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, April 11, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM. The game tips off at 3 pm Eastern Time and can be seen on NBA TV.

With both of the Celtics star wings of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum listed as questionable for the contest, this may well end up being a scheduled loss against a rolling Nuggets squad who have won eight games in a row and nine of their last 10.

But if both of the Jays can play and bring their “A” game, this might just be a close contest.

Timberwolves vs. Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, picks (4/9)

Everything you need to know to bet on tonight’s contest with Minnesota.

The Boston Celtics play the Minnesota Timberwolves on this Friday, April 9, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston for those who are local and NBA LEague Pass everywhere else.

A lowly but not toothless ‘Wolves travels to TD Garden to try and win two in a row after dropping seven of their last 10, while the Celtics try to string together another win streak to send their record back over .500.

This SHOULD be an easy Celtics win, but Boston has made a habit of blowing even easy games on some nights this season.

Knicks at Celtics: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Knicks-Celtics game.

Julius Randle and the New York Knicks visit the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and MSG Network.

The Celtics (25-26) are currently the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference, and are playing the second half of a back-to-back following a loss to the 76ers on Tuesday. The Knicks (25-26) have an identical record after losing four of their last five games.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Celtics -3
  • Money line: Celtics -150 / Knicks +125
  • Over-under: 209.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in VA, CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

Kemba Walker is out for the Celtics as expected, and Evan Fournier will also miss Wednesday’s game due to health and safety protocols.

With the Celtics feeling weary and missing two key players, this line is certainly attractive for Knicks bettors. New York just pushed the Brooklyn Nets to a two-point game, and Julius Randle has been impressive for the Knicks, following up a 29-point outing in a blowout win with a triple-double against Brooklyn. In their first meeting early this season, the Knicks destroyed the Celtics 105-75, though Boston was missing Jayson Tatum in that game. Still, the Knicks will likely keep this game close and low-scoring. I’m taking the points, New York +3.

Prediction: Knicks 106, Celtics 103

Hornets vs. Celtics Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks – April 4

Everything you need to know to wager on today’s game against Charlotte.

The Boston Celtics play the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, April 4, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM. The game tips off at 6 p.m. Eastern Time and can be seen on NBC Sports Boston and NBA League Pass.

And while the Hornets are probably having closer to the season Celtics fans envisioned for their favorite team than Boston is, the injury bug probably helps the Celtics enough that today’s contest between the two teams may be closer than most might think.

It’s sure to still be entertaining to face off with old friends Terry Rozier and Brad Wanamaker though, even if Gordon Hayward will not be suiting up.
