The 2024 Iron Bowl: Photos from Alabama’s victory over Auburn

Alabama defeated Auburn the latest chapter of the Iron Bowl on Saturday night, 28-14.

One of college football’s greatest rivalries was renewed once again Saturday in Tuscaloosa when the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers met for the latest chapter of their storied history inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

This would be a memorable result for the Crimson Tide as well, as Alabama won the first Iron Bowl of the Kalen DeBoer era, while also keeping their College Football Playoff hopes alive, as well as denying Auburn a bowl game in the process with their 28-14 win.

A game which also extended Alabama’s current winning streak over Auburn to five-straight head-to-head, let’s take a look at some photos from Saturday’s Iron Bowl between the Crimson Tide and Tigers.

Check out the best pics and images from Texas Longhorns tough win over rival Texas A&M Aggies in first meeting in 13-years.

It wasn’t easy, but the Longhorns can once again claim bragging rights over their rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas used a strong first half and a stout defense in the second to win at Kyle Field 17-7.

This was the first meeting between the two bitter rivals since 2011, when UT won a thrilling 27-25 victory over Texas A&M in College Station. It was thought to be the final game of the rivalry. 13-years later, with Texas now in the SEC, the Horns once again reign supreme over the Aggies.

It was the Texas defense that really stood tall in the second half. Leading 17-0 and deep in Aggies territory, Horns QB Quinn Ewers threw a pick-6 that let A&M back in the game. Texas went on another sustained drive, but Ewers fumbled.

Texas A&M had a huge opportunity to cut the lead to three, but were stuffed in a goal line stand by the Longhorns defense that will be remembered for decades.

Photos of Notre Dame football’s victory over USC in annual rivalry game

What image will you remember most from this game?

Notre Dame is in the College Football Playoff after closing the regular season with a 49-35 victory over USC. It’s great whenever the Irish defeat the Trojans, especially on the road, but this one carried extra meaning for the aforementioned reason. Historically, the Irish have needed this win a bunch of times to determine their postseason fate, and they answered the call again.

Now, the Irish play the waiting game as to where they’ll be playing their first playoff game and who. It’s almost if not completely certain that they’ll be opening at Notre Dame Stadium, so fans undoubtedly are making their travel plans for South Bend for that weekend if they haven’t already. Who would have thought that was possible after the loss to Northern Illinois?

While there are bigger things ahead, that doesn’t mean the Irish shouldn’t enjoy their win over the Trojans. In fact, they might want to look back at photos of the day such as the following:

PHOTOS: Tar Heels drop regular season finale to NC State at home

If you weren’t able to catch the game live, here is a photo recap of North Carolina’s loss vs NC State.

North Carolina has had a wild week after the firing of long-time head coach Mack Brown. With the 16-year veteran heading into his final game as a Tar Heel inside Kenan Stadium, the team was hoping to go out on a high note.

That was far from the case. However, this was a take of two halves. The first half saw minimal yardage and just a total of 13 points. NC State led UNC 7-6 at the break with a touchdown on either side and a missed extra point for the Tar Heels.

The second half was a gun-slinging shootout. North Carolina dominated the third quarter, taking a 20-13 lead into the final quarter. In a back-and-forth matchup, NC State got the final word on a two-yard punch in from Hollywood Smothers.

Here is a photo recap of the UNC vs NC State matchup.

Here are the best photos from No. 13 Alabama’s 28-14 win over Auburn on Saturday.

Auburn football fell to the No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, 28-14.

The visiting Tigers stayed close to Alabama in the yards department, being out-gained 457-399. Quarterback [autotag]Payton Thorne[/autotag] passed for 301 yards and a touchdown in the loss, but two late interceptions, including one on a trick play by running back [autotag]Jarquez Hunter[/autotag], killed Auburn’s hopes of erasing the 14-point deficit in the final quarter of play.

Third down was an issue for Auburn on Saturday, as they converted just 4-of-12 opportunities. Considering that Auburn recovered three Alabama fumbles and picked off Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe once, the lack of being able to take advantage of extra opportunities on offense hurt the Tigers’ chances to pull off an upset win.

Best photos from Georgia’s epic 8OT win over Georgia Tech

Top photos from Georgia’s amazing win over Georgia Tech

The Georgia Bulldogs won an insane rivalry marathon against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 44-42. Georgia Tech had a 17-0 lead at the half and a 27-13 lead with almost six minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs did not relent, scoring a touchdown and forcing a fumble to score another touchdown to tie it.

In overtime, each team mimicked each other to perfection, with the Yellow Jackets answering every time the Bulldogs scored or didn’t convert. Finally, after eight overtimes, Georgia won the game off a Nate Frazier run.

Georgia ends the regular season 10-2. The Bulldogs already have a date with the winner of the Texas versus Texas A&M game in the SEC championship. However, the Georgia-Georgia Tech game was still huge for their playoff chances.

If the Bulldogs proceeded to lose both of their next two games, they would be sitting at 9-4 and more than likely out of the College Football Playoff. Now, the Bulldogs are all but a lock to make the playoff.

Georgia Tech ends their regular season 7-5. The Yellow Jackets played scrappy all season long, with two wins against top-10 AP-ranked opponents (Florida State, Miami). They very well could’ve had another one, but it wasn’t meant to be on a cold night in Athens.

The time is here, and a decade’s worth of trash-talking will be settled on the field Saturday night. No. 20 Texas A&M will battle No. 3 Texas for the spot opposite Georgia in the SEC championship game.

Everyone in Kyle Field in the surrounding area better have their earplugs ready because the volume is going to be turned up to the max. With a title shot on the line, the Aggies and Longhorns will renew their rivalry that spans over 130 years, 118 meetings, and 3 conferences in front of what should be a record crowd.

A&M is a heavy underdog, but we all know when it comes to rivalries everything can be thrown out the window no matter what the analyst may say leading up to the game. The Lone Star Showdown is back, and college football will be a better place because of it.

Michigan State football’s season came to an end in disappointing fashion on Saturday afternoon.

In a must-win game to reach a bowl game, the Spartans were blown out by Rutgers at Spartan Stadium. Michigan State jumped out to a 7-0 lead early but again were dominated after the first quarter, with the Scarlet Knights outscoring Michigan State 41-7 from that point in route to a 41-14 loss.

Michigan State drops to 5-7 overall with the loss and will now miss out on the postseason for a third straight year. The Spartans needed a win over Rutgers to become bowl eligible in Jonathan Smith’s first year as head coach.

The win capped an 11-1 regular season and ultimately sends Penn State off to the Big Ten championship game for the second time in program history.

[autotag]Tyler Warren[/autotag] set a couple of records in the win as he polished off his awards profile for consideration, and [autotag]Nick Singleton[/autotag] overcame a fumble on the first play of the game to score two touchdowns and return a long kickoff to spark the offense to the rout of the Terrapins.
