Spain vs. Italy: How to watch Euro 2024, TV channel, live stream

Two European powers clash at Euro 2024

Spain and Italy will clash in a high-profile Euro 2024 group-stage match on Thursday in Gelsenkirchen.

Both teams began their tournaments with a win, as Spain cruised past Croatia 3-0 and Italy defeated Albania 2-1.

After Albania’s draw with Croatia on Wednesday, both teams will be able to lock up a spot in the round of 16 with a victory in this match.

Spain dominated Croatia in its opener after goals from Fabián Ruiz, Álvaro Morata and Dani Carvajal, as well as a star performance from the youngest player in Euros history, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal.

Italy fell behind within 23 seconds against Albania, but quickly recovered for a win thanks to goals from Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolò Barella.

Spain will be looking to win the Euros for a record fourth time, most recently securing the title on back-to-back occasions in 2008 and 2012.

This game will be a rematch of the 2012 final, which saw Spain dominate Italy in a 4-0 victory.

Denmark vs. England: How to watch Euro 2024, TV channel, live stream

The Three Lions look to seal a spot in the knockout stage with a win over the Danes

England will look to lock up a spot in the knockout stage when it faces Denmark in a Euro 2024 match on Thursday.

The Three Lions began the tournament with a 1-0 win over Serbia, as Jude Bellingham’s first-half goal was enough to secure victory. The team’s performance has been criticized by fans and media alike, and Gareth Southgate’s side will look for an improved display against the Danish.

Denmark began its tournament with a 1-1 draw against Slovenia, as Christian Eriksen’s goal provided a true feel-good moment following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

That result left England fully in control atop Group C, sitting two points above Denmark and Slovenia and three points ahead of Serbia after one match.

England and Denmark last met in the semifinal of Euro 2020, as Harry Kane’s extra-time goal sent the Three Lions into the final with a 1-0 win.

We now have an explanation for Landon Donovan’s avant-garde haircut

The USMNT legend’s bizarre hairstyle quickly went viral

When Landon Donovan appeared on TV on Monday and turned slightly to the side, every Fox viewer was immediately left with the same question: What on earth is going on with his hair?

The U.S. men’s national team legend, who now serves as the lead match analyst for Fox Sports’ coverage of Euro 2024, had a bizarre gap in the side of his hair. It was as if his barber picked up and left mid-haircut.

This being social media we’re talking about here, the general reaction was bemusement and ridicule, though there was also some genuine concern about Donovan’s wellbeing.

This is, after all, not exactly the kind of look one typically goes for intentionally.

Thankfully for all of us, Mike Magee was on the case.

The former MLS star and Donovan’s longtime teammate with the LA Galaxy texted his former running mate: “LD check Twitter ASAP and prob fire your barber.”

Donovan responded: “Where were you 7 hours ago??? Had a hair transplant procedure two weeks ago and was told it wouldn’t show up on camera.”

Magee later asked Donovan if he would give his blessing to post the text exchange publicly, to which the all-time leading USMNT goalscorer replied magnanimously: “Whatever, I deserve it.”

Hungary’s big beefy boy striker says he was born this way

The “Hungarian Viking” isn’t making any apologies for his appearance

Hungary striker Martin Ádám didn’t play much in his side’s Euro 2024 opener, but he was on the field long enough to become something of a viral sensation.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 189 pounds, Ádám’s size is immediately noticeable when he steps onto the pitch. Combined with his shaved head and large ginger beard, the 29-year-old quickly became a fan favorite during an 11-minute cameo in Hungary’s 3-1 loss to Switzerland.

The striker, who plays his club soccer in Korea with Ulsan HD, is well aware of his newfound popularity — and he’s not making any apologies for his appearance.

“The posts? Of course one or two get to me, I usually have a laugh about it,” Ádám told a news conference on Sunday.

“I was born this way, I have this body shape. I’m not saying that I was this big when I was born, but I have a basic physique. Genetics — I can’t change that.”

Ádám, who has scored three international goals in 23 caps, will look to boost his popularity even further with a goal on Wednesday against Germany.

That won’t be easy for the striker nicknamed the “Hungarian Viking” — or any of his other teammates for that matter.

Germany was rampant in its Euro 2024 opener, easily defeating Scotland 4-1 in front of its home fans in Munich.

The Three Lions kick off their Euros campaign with a tricky opener

England will kick off its Euro 2024 campaign on Sunday with a tough matchup against Serbia at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

The Three Lions will be under pressure to take home the tournament this year after falling agonizingly short three years ago on home soil.

Gareth Southgate’s men fell on penalties in the final against Italy, giving them extra motivation to win the European Championships for the first time ever in 2024.

The task in the group stage won’t be easy, with Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia all likely to pose different challenges for England.

Serbia is making its Euros debut as an independent nation, having previously competed at the tournament as part of Yugoslavia.

The Eagles will bring plenty of well-known talent to the tournament, particularly up front where Dušan Vlahović, Luka Jović, and Aleksandar Mitrović all provide firepower.

Hungary vs. Switzerland: How to watch Euro 2024, live stream

The two countries kick off Euro 2024 with a group-stage game in Cologne

Hungary and Switzerland will kick off their Euro 2024 campaigns on Saturday, as the two sides face off at RheinEnergieStadion Cologne.

Hungary has not reached a World Cup since 1986, but will be making its third straight Euros appearance as it looks to get past the group stage like it did in 2016.

Marco Rossi’s side is considered one of the dark horses in this tournament, as a defeat against Ireland in a pre-tournament friendly last week was its first loss since 2022.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Hungary vs. Switzerland FREE on Fubo” link=”https://www.fubo.tv/welcome?irad=343747&irmp=1205322&subId1=PSW&subId2=Generic&subId3=2023%2F24″]

Switzerland won just four of 10 games in qualifying, but still managed to reach the tournament by finishing in second place behind Romania.

The Swiss have advanced from the group stage in each of the last five European Championships, reaching the quarterfinals at Euro 2020.

Following this match, games against Germany and Scotland will await for both Switzerland and Hungary.

Germany vs Scotland: How to watch Euro 2024, TV channel, live stream

Euro 2024 kicks off with the host country facing the Tartan Army in Munich

Germany and Scotland will kick off Euro 2024 on Friday, as the host nation faces off against the Tartan Army at Allianz Arena in Munich.

Germany will be under pressure to perform well after early eliminations in three straight major tournaments.

Since taking over as Germany’s head coach in September 2023, Julian Nagelsmann has not quite convinced just yet. Wins over the U.S. men’s national team, France, and the Netherlands have helped his cause, but Die Mannschaft has also stumbled in losses to Turkey and Austria.

Germany’s pre-Euros friendlies were unconvincing as well, with a scoreless draw against Ukraine and a 1-0 win over Greece not the kind of results to build huge confidence ahead of the Euros.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Germany vs Scotland FREE on Fubo” link=”https://www.fubo.tv/welcome?irad=343747&irmp=1205322&subId1=PSW&subId2=Generic&subId3=2023%2F24″]

For Scotland, the goal is simple: advance past the group stage of a major tournament for the first time ever.

Steve Clarke’s side will have to navigate some injury issues, but will feel that advancement is achievable in a group that also features Hungary and Switzerland.

With the Euros seeing 16 of 24 teams reach the knockout stage, any result against the host nation will see the Tartan Army take a major step toward achieving their aim.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.

Euro 2024: What are the group-stage tiebreakers?

UEFA has nine tiebreakers to sort the group stage at Euro 2024

Euro 2024 will feature no fewer than nine tiebreakers for its group stage, including the possibility of penalty kicks in certain situations.

All six of Euro 2024’s groups will be sorted in traditional round-robin fashion: each team will play the other three sides in its group once, and the top two sides will advance to the round of 16. The final four places in the knockout round will go to the four best third-place teams.

However, with each team only getting three games to differentiate themselves from their competition, points in the table likely won’t settle every single group.

UEFA has allowed for the prospect of a group-stage penalty kick shootout in a very specific set of circumstances: if the two teams in question finish their final group-stage match tied, and have matching goal difference, goals scored, they will proceed to spot kicks to determine who gets the higher spot in the standings.

Here are UEFA’s official tiebreakers for the group stage at Euro 2024:

Euro 2024 group-stage tiebreakers

  1. Higher number of points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question.
  2. Superior goal difference resulting from the matches played between the teams in question.
  3. Higher number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question.
  4. If, after having applied criteria one to three, teams still have an equal ranking, criteria one to three are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the teams who are still level to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria five to nine will apply.
  5. Superior goal difference in all group matches.
  6. Higher number of goals scored in all group matches.
  7. If on the last round of the group stage, two teams who are facing each other are tied in points, goal difference, and goals scored then drew their match, their ranking is determined by a penalty shoot-out. (note: This criterion is not used if more than two teams had the same number of points.)
  8. Lower disciplinary points total in all group matches (1 point for a single yellow card, 3 points for a red card as a consequence of two yellow cards, 3 points for a direct red card, 4 points for a yellow card followed by a direct red card).
  9. Higher position in the European Qualifiers overall ranking, unless the comparison involves hosts Germany, in which case a drawing of lots will take place.
