Spain vs. England: How to watch Euro 2024 final, TV channel, live stream

All eyes are on Berlin as the two European powers meet in the final

Spain and England will meet on Sunday in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

For Spain, the game will be an opportunity to win its fourth European Championship, the most of any men’s team ever.

England, meanwhile, will be looking for its first Euros title, and only its second major title alongside the 1966 World Cup.

Spain has been the tournament’s best side, winning all six of its games so far including a quarterfinal triumph over host Germany and a semifinal win over France.

Lamine Yamal, who turned 17 on Saturday, has been the story of the Euros. The Barcelona attacker has not only become the tournament’s youngest player ever, but has starred with three assists and a stunning goal against France in the semifinal.

Spain will be favored, but England has shown incredible resilience to reach a second straight Euros final.

The Three Lions failed to impress in the group phase, and needed an incredible last-second bicycle kick from Jude Bellingham to avoid a last-16 exit against Slovakia. Penalties were then required to see off Switzerland in the quarterfinal, while Ollie Watkins scored a last-gasp winner against the Netherlands in the semifinal.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.

The Killers pause London concert, watch England win, rip into ‘Mr. Brightside’

The band wisely let fans watch the end of the game, then went into overdrive

What do you do if you’re playing a concert in London at the same time England is playing for a place in the Euro 2024 final?

The Killers had the perfect answer to that riddle, pausing their show on Wednesday to watch the final minutes of a dramatic England win before going straight into their iconic single “Mr. Brightside.”

The Las Vegas band was playing the fifth night in a six-date residency at the O2 Arena in London. Meanwhile, about 400 miles to the east, England was taking on the Netherlands in a Euro 2024 semifinal in Dortmund, Germany.

The Dutch took an early lead, but Harry Kane’s penalty equalized and with just minutes left, Ollie Watkins scored a dramatic winner to send England into Sunday’s final against Spain.

Knowing that much of the audience was distracted as the game reached its conclusion, The Killers did the sensible thing and simply paused their show, putting the match on the big screen behind them and turning the commentary on.

As the final whistle blew, fans went wild and a cannon shot out red and white confetti. Luckily, the band hadn’t yet played its hit 2004 single, and the final whistle provided the ideal segue for the opening guitar strains of “Mr. Brightside” to send the crowd into overdrive.

Netherlands vs. England: How to watch Euro 2024, TV channel, live stream

A spot in the final alongside Spain is at stake

The Netherlands and England will meet on Wednesday with a place in the Euro 2024 final at stake.

The two sides will battle at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, with the winner earning a spot in Sunday’s final alongside Spain.

England has been far from convincing at this Euros, but has still reached the semifinal of a major tournament for the third time in four tries.

Jude Bellingham’s incredible last-second bicycle kick saved England from a last-16 exit against Slovakia, and penalties were required to see off Switzerland in the quarterfinal.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, has overcome a group stage that saw one win, one draw and a loss to secure back-to-back wins over Romania and Turkey in the knockout stage.

Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman is aiming to lead his side to only its second European title, and first since 1988 — a team in which he was one of the key players.

Morata faces Euro 2024 fitness worry after being taken out by security guard

Morata can’t even celebrate a win without being in physical danger

Spain has moved on to the Euro 2024 final, but a bizarre post-game incident might impact whether Álvaro Morata will be available to play a part.

The striker was hit by a tumbling security guard, who was sprinting in to stop a fan from taking selfies as Spain did a victory lap following its 2-1 victory over France.

Morata had no idea what was coming as the security staffer careened into him while trying to stop and turn. Adding to the strangeness of the situation, stewards at the Allianz Arena had already managed to grab the young selfie-taker.

The Atlético Madrid striker, who has started all but one of Spain’s matches in the tournament, immediately felt for his right knee, wincing and then limping away from the kerfuffle. The security person leaned in to check on the Spain captain, who seemed to simply want to hobble away from the entire situation.

In a post-match press conference, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente told reporters that Morata’s status was at this point unknown.

“We have to wait and see tomorrow,” said De la Fuente. “We believe it’s nothing. It hurts, but we think it’s nothing.”

Should Morata be unavailable, De la Fuente would likely be choosing between Mikel Oyarzabal (who replaced Morata in the 76th minute on Tuesday) or Joselu to lead the line in the final, which is on Sunday against either England or the Netherlands.

This isn’t even the first such incident involving an Iberian forward at this tournament. Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos ended up having a steward crash into him after a 3-0 win over Turkey on June 22.

Wimbledon disrupted by rowdy England fans celebrating Euro 2024 win

Euro 2024 briefly took over at Wimbledon, where England fans got loud

England’s dramatic success at Euro 2024 is such a big deal that it’s impacting other major sporting events.

That includes Wimbledon, which saw a third-round match between No. 2-ranked Novak Djokovic and Alexei Popyrin briefly halted as celebrations broke out in the stands at Centre Court.

It wasn’t a spectacular rally or match-winning ace that brought a roar out of fans on Saturday. Instead, as Popyrin prepared to serve in the second set, the crowd suddenly began loudly cheering and applauding.

In tennis, noise as a player prepares to serve is normally a faux pas, and announcements urging quiet are common in major finals. Fans can be ejected for the kind of behavior that, in soccer, is utterly normal.

This time, though, everyone knew the deal. Both players eased up for a moment, as it was quickly clear what was going on. Roughly 300 miles east in Düsseldorf, England had survived a penalty-kick tiebreaker at Euro 2024, seeing off Switzerland 5-3 after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

While it wasn’t being shown on any screens in the stadium, it became obvious that at least a few hundred attendees were also following Euro 2024 on their phones.

That meant that when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s penalty hit the back of the net, it was party time, regardless of what was going on between Djokovic and Popyrin.

As the crowd continued its applause, the tennis players even pantomimed a bit of soccer, with Djokovic pretending to kick a ball while Popyrin took on the role of goalkeeper.

Once Center Court calmed down enough for play to resume, Djokovic would go on to claim victory in four sets.

Huge blow for Spain as Pedri taken off injured early vs. Germany

The 21-year-old took a knee-to-knee challenge from Toni Kroos early in the quarterfinal

Spain suffered a major blow early in its Euro 2024 quarterfinal against Germany, as Pedri limped off with an injury just eight minutes into the match.

The playmaker took a knee-to-knee challenge from Toni Kroos just three minutes in, sending him crashing to the turf in Stuttgart on Friday.

Spain medics came onto the pitch to examine the 21-year-old, but it became quickly apparent that he would not be able to continue.

RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo was sent onto the pitch in place of Pedri, who could only slowly limp off as he buried his face in his hands.

Olmo did make the most of his chance, scoring Spain’s first goal in a match it would eventually win 2-1 after a last-minute Mikel Merino goal in extra time.

Pedri has started three of Spain’s four matches at Euro 2024 thus far, providing one assist.

The winner of Spain’s match against Germany will face the winner of France’s game against Portugal in the semifinal.

Switzerland vs. Italy: How to watch Euro 2024, TV channel, streaming

The knockout stage begins with a clash in Berlin

The Euro 2024 knockout stage is here, with Switzerland and Italy facing off on Saturday in a last-16 clash.

Switzerland got out of the group stage unbeaten, defeating Hungary before drawing Scotland and Germany.

Murat Yakin’s side would have advanced as group winners were it not for a stoppage-time equalizer by Germany forward Niclas Füllkrug in the group stage finale. Instead, Switzerland had to settle for second place in Group A.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Switzerland vs. Italy FREE on Fubo” link=”https://www.fubo.tv/welcome?irad=343747&irmp=1205322&subId1=PSW&subId2=Generic&subId3=2023%2F24″]

Italy was less impressive in Group B, defeating Albania in its opener before a loss to Spain and a draw with Croatia that would have seen them eliminated were it not for a 98th-minute equalizer from Mattia Zaccagni.

The winner of this match will meet either England or Slovakia in the quarterfinals.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.

Daniel Sturridge is going through it sitting next to Alexi Lalas

Welcome to American television!

Daniel Sturridge is getting quite the introduction to the world of American punditry.

The ex-England international is making his debut with Fox Sports this summer, serving as a studio analyst for the network’s coverage of Euro 2024.

Also serving as a studio analyst is notorious pot-stirrer Alexi Lalas, who continues to grace the airwaves with his unabashed style of punditry.

Lalas provided another example of his freeform commentary during a segment on Thursday, taking aim at England in a rant featuring a Justin Timberlake reference, a pointed mention of the very British term “whinging” and, of course, lots of yelling.

Sitting next to the ex-U.S. international, Sturridge could hardly contain himself, burying his head in his hand at one point while offering plenty of side-eyes to his colleague.

At the end of his diatribe, Lalas turned to Sturridge and demanded to know where he would play Phil Foden if he were in charge of England.

“Don’t put this on me Alexi,” was all could Sturridge could muster before breaking out in exasperated laughter.

Kylian Mbappe’s mask is here, and it is very French

The France star will have a new look going forward at Euro 2024

Kylian Mbappé has introduced his first mask, but it doesn’t look like it will be one he’ll be able to use in a game.

The France star suffered a broken nose in his side’s Euro 2024 opener against Austria, colliding with defender Kevin Danso near the end of France’s 1-0 win.

It was immediately apparent that Mbappé had broken his nose, which appeared to be out of place as blood poured out onto the striker’s jersey.

It was also quickly apparent that the Real Madrid forward would be sporting a new look whenever he appeared on the pitch next.

Just hours after the injury, Mbappé was on social media asking his followers if they had any mask ideas.

In France’s training on Thursday, one day before a marquee matchup against the Netherlands, Mbappé debuted his first effort — and it was not the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask he was once gifted.

Mbappé showed up on the training pitch in a patriotic mask that featured the colors and pattern of the French flag. On one side was his initials “KM” while on the other, his number 10 featured in between two stars.

In the middle was the Gallic rooster — a national symbol of France that also appears on the French team’s crest.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the striker will actually be able to wear his mask during a game. According to UEFA rules, masks have to be just one color and free of team and sponsor logos.

As for when the superstar will actually debut a mask in a game, France coach Didier Deschamps sounded optimistic it could be against the Netherlands.

“Everything is going well, after the shock we had. He was able to take part in some light exercises yesterday, and that will be the same this evening. Everything is evolving in the right direction,” Deschamps said Thursday in his pre-match press conference.

“We’ll do all we can to ensure that he’ll be available tomorrow.”

Amadou Onana, who is very much not Andre Onana, brushes off reporter’s gaffe

Amadou Onana’s English accent is perfect, while a reporter’s ability to tell people apart is not

Belgium has a soccer player named Amadou Onana, while André Onana (no relation) plays for Cameroon.

These two simple facts are important to keep in mind, particularly if you’re seeking a quote at Euro 2024.

Amadou Onana had to endure a reporter’s inability to keep those concepts in mind as the midfielder took questions following Belgium’s 1-0 loss to Slovakia on Monday.

After concluding an answer in French for one reporter, Onana’s attention was requested by another journalist in English. In the world of international soccer — particularly in a country like Belgium, which has three official languages — that sort of flexibility is the norm.

Sadly for the reporter, he couldn’t show the same ability to adapt to the information that, as was discussed earlier, this was Amadou Onana, the Belgium midfielder.

“André, just one question,” began the journalist, apparently mistaking a player at Euro 2024 for the Manchester United goalkeeper, who again does not play for a European country.

Onana, displaying some linguistic nimbleness, pivoted to a perfect English accent to cut him off.

“André is not even my name, mate,” said the 22-year-old. “Do you know what I mean?”

Before the reporter could correct himself, Onana gestured to a different member of the press corps and said “go on,” taking that journalist’s question.

It’s not hard to sort why Onana would be irritated. The stereotype that Black people all look alike is persistent, and in fact the Everton man doesn’t bear any particular resemblance to Cameroon’s No. 1.

On top of that, it implies that one Onana merits remembering while the other does not, which is especially strange when you’re reporting on Euro 2024, a competition André Onana literally cannot play in.
