USA Today High School Sports takes a look at each SEC football program’s highest-ranked 2021 commit with the early signing period nearing.

Last month, USA Today High School Sports unveiled its top 100 football recruiting ranking for the class of 2021. With the beginning of the early signing period now only three days away, it’s now time to take a deeper look at the crop of prospects ascending to the college ranks in the coming weeks months.

And what better place to start than in college football’s best conference?

The SEC currently boasts six of the 15 best 2021 recruiting classes in the country according to 247Sports. The conference as a whole has recruited extremely well per the usual this cycle, with each class featuring at least one crown jewel.

Who are those crown jewels, though? Let’s take a look at the highest-ranked commit in each SEC program’s 2021 recruiting class.

Note: List is subject to change pending the outcome of the early signing period and decisions of currently uncommitted recruits.

Last month, USA Today High School Sports unveiled its top 100 football recruiting ranking for the class of 2021. With the beginning of the early signing period now less than a week away, it’s now time to take a deeper look at the crop of prospects ascending to the college ranks in the coming months.

With talent spanning from the east coast to the west coast, USA Today High School Sports takes a look at the top-ranked recruit in each state according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings. With no recruits ranked in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, those states were excluded from the list.

Some athletes have already made verbal commitments to specific NCAA programs, so that information is also included below — and will be updated should anything change.

Top 25 Recruiting Classes for 2020: Who’s No. 1?

SEC finishes with the three of the top five recruiting classes. Check out who finished in the top 25 Composite Team Recruiting Rankings following 2019 Early Signing Day.

Here is a look at the USA TODAY Sports’ Composite Football Recruiting Team Rankings for the Class of 2020.

The composite reflects the average ranking of the three major recruiting services: 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals.

Clemson is the consensus No. 1 team with Alabama claiming No. 3 and Ohio State at No. 3. LSU and Georgia take the next two spots, giving the SEC three of the top five and five of the top 10.

Five-star wide receiver Rakim Jarrett flips his commitment from LSU to Maryland

Rakim Jarrett is staying at the crib. The five-star recruit has committed to Maryland.

Wide receiver Rakim Jarrett was expected to be one of three five-star players to sign with LSU in the 2020 Class Wednesday.

Instead, Jarrett opted for a place closer to home.

The St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) product committed to Maryland during the Early Signing Period. Jarrett, ranked the seventh best wideout and the 32nd overall prospect in 247 Sports’ rankings, is the highest-rated recruit to sign with the Terrapins in the 2020 Class so far.

“What’s a better place to do it than your city.. see y’all in the fall. #Signed,” Jarrett said in an Instagram post.

Maryland has one four-star recruit for 2020: outside linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II. Other than Jarret and Hyppolite II, Maryland’s 27 recruits are all three-stars at the time this article was published.

Four-star defensive back Malcolm Greene flips commitment from LSU to Clemson

The rich get richer. Malcolm Greene has committed to Clemson.

The No. 1 recruiting class for 2020 just got bigger.

Malcolm Greene, a four-star recruit out of Highland Springs (Virginia), changed his commitment from LSU to Clemson Wednesday.

As 247 Sports reported, Greene committed to LSU in October, but switched to Clemson when it told him there was space available for a fourth defensive back in the class. 

Greene’s decision notched the Tigers’ recruiting class to 23 total commitments. It is currently ranked as the No. 1 class on Rivals, 247 Sports and recently ESPN.

Highland Springs (Virginia) consistently ranked inside the Super 25 East Regional Rankings this season, but was knocked out of those ranks a few weeks ago. The team finished 11-1 on the year.

With Early Signing Period upon us, the 2020 Composite Football Recruiting Rankings have been released. Here are USA TODAY’s top 100 players.

With the Early Signing Period upon us, take a look at the nation’s top 100 players according to the USA TODAY High School Sports Composite Player Rankings.

The composite represents the average rankings of the three major recruiting services – 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals along with the USA TODAY Chosen 25. The lower the average the better. For players who are not ranked by a particular service, the player receives a maximum number +10 based on the way players are ranked for each site beyond the last player (310 for ESPN, and 260 for Rivals, 35 for Chosen 25).

The Buzz: Green originally said that he would make his announcement on Christmas Day, but now he’s reportedly planning to hold off until after his season ends. Green, ranked No. 3 in the Chosen 25, has already taken visits to each of his five schools and is receiving the full-court press not just from the coaches, but committed recruits at each school. Sharife Cooper, an Auburn commit who is ranked No. 2 in the Chosen 25, told USA Today Sports he “is coming hard” after Green.
