The Arizona Cardinals made some final roster moves Saturday afternoon for their Week 17 game on the road against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

They added three players to the roster to address injuries.

One thing they did not do was place safety Budda Baker on injured reserve despite his having a fractured shoulder that ends his season.

They signed receiver Andre Baccellia to the roster from the practice squad and elevated both long snapper Hunter Bradley and safety Josh Thomas.

Baccellia will add a receiver with DeAndre Hopkins out. It appears the receiving depth chart will be Marquise Brown, A.J. Green, Greg Dortch and Robbie Anderson. Pharoh Cooper will return kicks and punts, while Baccellia will offer depth if needed.

Bradley’s elevation was a give as he is the only long snapper on the team after Aaron Brewer landed on injured reserve.

Thomas is elevated for the first time. He will likely play on special teams. With Baker injured, Chris Banjo will likely start with Jalen Thompson, while Isaiah Simmons should get playing time as well. Thomas and Charles Washington will play on special teams.

DeAndre Hopkins downgraded to out, will not play vs. Falcons

He will miss his first game since returning from his six-game suspension.

The Arizona Cardinals made a change to their final injury report Saturday before they traveled to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons Sunday.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was originally listed as questionable for the game after missing practice Friday with a knee issue. On Saturday, when the team was set to reevaluate him and see how he feels, he was downgraded to out.

He will miss his first game since returning from his six-game suspension to start the season.

Facing the 5-10 Falcons, the Cardinals will have quarterback David Blough starting, the fourth quarterback to start for them in as many games. They don’t have Hopkins, Zach Ertz, at least 3 of their starting offensive linemen, Budda Baker, Zach Allen, Byron Murphy, Antonio Hamilton and maybe Marco Wilson.

It’s been a long time since the Cardinals won in Atlanta

The Cardinals last beat the Falcons on the road during the 1993 season.

The Arizona Cardinals face the Atlanta Falcons Sunday on the road at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Both teams come into the week struggling.

The Cardinals have lost five straight games and seven of their last eight, while the Falcons are on a four-game losing streak and have lost six of seven.

They have faced each other 31 times in the regular season and once in the playoffs. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 16-15 in the regular season and 1-0 in the postseason.

However, the Cardinals have not won a game in Atlanta in nearly 30 years.

The Falcons have won nine straight home games against the Cardinals.

It was the 1993 season the last time the Cardinals beat the Falcons on the road.

It was a 27-10 win with Steve Beuerlein at quarterback. He threw three touchdown passes, including two to Randal Hill.

That was a long time ago. The Cardinals weren’t even the Arizona Cardinals. They were still called the Phoenix Cardinals.

Overall, the Cardinals are 6-13 all-time in Atlanta.

DeAndre Hopkins has knee injury, might not play vs. Falcons

He left practice Friday with a knee issue and will be reevaluated Saturday to see whether he will be able to play on Sunday against the Falcons.

The Arizona Cardinals had a couple of unexpected injuries come up on Friday. Quarterback Colt McCoy was ruled out of the game on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, suffering concussion symptoms, giving David Blough the start.

Receiver DeAndre Hopkins has an issue with his knee and might be ruled out as well, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters after Friday’s practice.

The team will see hos he feels on Saturday and determine whether or not he will play.

Hopkins was seen during the open part of practice on Friday going back into the facility. It was unknown whether he returned.

Hopkins has played in only nine games this season. He was suspended for the first six games. Through 16 weeks, he has 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns.

The Cardinals’ final injury report of the week will be released Friday afternoon.

David Blough to start at QB for Cardinals vs. Falcons

Colt McCoy suffered concussion symptoms after practicing Thursday. Blough will start instead of Trace McSorley.

There has been a change in plans for the Arizona Cardinals this week. Quarterback Colt McCoy returned to practice after clearing concussion protocols and was slated to start against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

That will not happen. David Blough, signed last week, will make the start at quarterback, head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Friday after practice.

McCoy was not present at the open part of practice Friday after being a full participant both Wednesday and Thursday. Kingsbury said McCoy experienced concussion symptoms and ruled him out for the game.

It will be Blough who starts instead of Trace McSorley, who made his first NFL start on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 19-16 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Blough made five starts for the Detroit Lions in 2019. They lost all five of those games.

Blough, in seven career appearances, has completed 54.3% of his passes for 1,033 yards, fourth touchdowns and seven interceptions.

He will be the fourth quarterback to start for the Cardinals this season.
