The Cleveland Cavaliers squeaked out a Game 7 win over the Orlando Magic in their first round series, and are now destined to face the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. What do we need to know about the Cavs ahead of the start of the 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals?

Miami Heat team president Pat Riley criticizes Jimmy Butler’s comments about the Boston Celtics

Riley related that he could not initially tell if Butler was joking.

Fans of the Miami Heat were absolutely eating it up when star Heat forward Jimmy Butler talked some serious smack about the Boston Celtics and how his presence might impact their 2024 Eastern Conference first round series, implying Miami would have won the 2024 first round series had he been healthy enough to play.

But that little diatribe from Butler did not go over very well with the Heat President of Basketball Operations Pat Riley, who called out his star forward in a recent video put together by the team. “If you’re not on the court, playing against Boston or on the court playing against the New York Knicks, you should keep your mouth shut and your criticism against those two teams (to yourself)” said the Miami executive.

In fact, Riley related that he could not initially tell if Butler was joking. But the breach of team etiquette was egregious enough for the former Los Angeles Lakers legend that he felt the need to address it in public.

Safe to say that most fans of the Celtics find themselves in the unusual position of agreeing with Riles.

If ever there were a prize for the greatest trash-talker of all of the history of the Boston Celtics organization, it would undoubtedly go to Hall of Fame Celtics forward Larry Bird. And few men were there to see it live and in the flesh more than fellow Celtics Hall of Famer Robert Parish was.

Chief witnessed some truly epic examples of what the Hick From French Lick could do to opposing players with the power of his words backed up by preternatural on-court capabilities. And it was not all that long ago that Parish told some of those tales on the CLNS Media “Michael Coopers Showtime” podcast, itself hosted by a man who witnessed some of those games himself.

Celtics center alum Jared Sullinger signs new deal with Puerto Rico’s Cangrejeros de Santurce

It seems to be a popular week for alumni of the Boston Celtics inking new deals.

It seems to be a popular week for alumni of the Boston Celtics inking new deals in far-flung locales. Soon after former Boston floor general Shane Larkin signed a new, four-year deal with the Turkish Basketball Super League club Anadou Efes, we are hearing rumbles that former Celtics center Jared Sullinger has also signed himself a new contract.

According to recent reporting from HoopsHype’s Alberto De Roa, the Ohio State alum has signed a new deal with the Cangrejeros (Crab Eaters) de Santurce of the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league.

The contract, for the remainder of the 2024 season, will add Sully’s services to a team where he will be the biggest name on the roster.

Terms of the deal remain unclear, with that organization not having shared the details.

But it’s good to see the Celtics’ No. 21 pick of the 2012 NBA draft back on the court for the first time since his stint with the Shenzhen Leopards ended earlier this year.
