Kyle Lowry takes to Instagram to react to re-signing with Sixers

Kyle Lowry takes to Instagram to react to his re-signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers brought back a key veteran on Thursday when they agreed to a 1-year deal to have Kyle Lowry return to the Sixers. They picked up the veteran guard in the buyout market in February and he did a lot of good things for Philadelphia.

Along with helping Tyrese Maxey take steps forward as a lead guard, Lowry was also able to produce on the floor. He averaged 8.0 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 40.4% from deep in 23 games with 20 starts with the Sixers after starting the season with the Miami Heat.

The veteran took to Instagram to react to his re-signing with the Sixers. He also included a clip of the 2016 All-Star game when he assisted new addition Paul George on a 3-pointer.

Lowry should not only do wonders for Maxey taking another step forward, but should also help rookie Jared McCain. When looking at Lowry’s career, he has accomplished much in the league and has a lot of wisdom he can pass on to the youngsters.

Eric Gordon gives his thoughts on new Sixers teammate Joel Embiid

Veteran Eric Gordon gives his thoughts on new Philadelphia 76ers teammate Joel Embiid.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy offseason as President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey has done a terrific job of taking advantage of the cap space he has been able to create.

The big addition has, obviously, been Paul George, but the Sixers also added some helpful role players such as Eric Gordon for example. Gordon, a 16-year veteran, shot 37.8% from deep in the 2023-24 season for the Phoenix Suns.

As Gordon now heads to Philadelphia, he will now be playing with superstar big man Joel Embiid. Gordon is no stranger to playing with stars as he has played with the likes of Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and others in the past.

“Well, I think he’ll be the most dominant or dominant big that’ll be my teammate,” Gordon laughed. “I’ve had AD before, Blake Griffin during his good time. I mean, I’ve had a lot of good bigs, but he’s very dynamic.”

As terrific as Davis and Griffin have been in their careers, neither of them has been named an MVP and can do the things Embiid can. Not to take away from those two players, because they’re both fantastic, but Embiid is just on another level. Gordon should benefit from the open 3s he will get while playing next to the big fella.

“He’s a major force down there so,” Gordon added. “Like I said, as long as we all figure it out, jell together, I mean, the game should be easier for him and it should be easier for everyone else. So yeah, he’s definitely a special player.”

Embiid has always excelled when he’s had shooting around him. When the big fella is able to have spacing, that’s when teams are not able to double team him as much and if they do double, then Embiid will be able to pass it out to guys like Gordon which makes life easier for everybody on the offensive end of the floor.

Sixers star Tyrese Maxey back in the gym working on his midrange jumper

Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is back in the gym working on adding a midrange jumper to his bag.

The midrange jumper can be such an important weapon in the NBA. There are so many stars in the league who can get to the basket or will knock down a 3-point shot that defenders can prepare for.

If a player adds a midrange jumper, then he can become almost unstoppable.

Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is one of those players who can get to the basket with ease while also effortlessly knocking down tough 3-pointers from way downtown. Once the rising star adds more to his game, that will make him an even tougher cover.

Maxey is back in the gym with his trainer working on adding that midrange jumper to his game.

Maxey and the Sixers will look to take that next step forward in the 2024-25 season. With the addition of Paul George, there will be more pressure on Maxey to help George and Joel Embiid get the Sixers over the hump in the Eastern Conference.

Paul Reed posts goodbye to Sixers fans as he moves on to join Pistons

Paul Reed posts his goodbye to the Philadelphia 76ers and the fans as he moves on to the Detroit Pistons.

Paul Reed spent his first four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers after being selected with the No. 58 pick in the 2020 draft. He grew into a fan favorite in the City of Brotherly Love due to his constant energy and ability to wow fans at times.

Unfortunately for Reed, the Sixers decided to go in another direction. Philadelphia brought in Andre Drummond in free agency and selected Adem Bona in the draft. Therefore, there were no minutes left for Reed and the Sixers waived him.

The Detroit Pistons claimed him off waivers as Reed will now head to the Motor City. He took to Instagram to say goodbye to the fans and the city of Philadelphia.

The Pistons will offer Reed more minutes and give him an opportunity to grow his game much more. When considering that Detroit is still in rebuild mode, this will give the big man more minutes to make mistakes and develop behind Jalen Duren.

Report: Sixers agree on 1-year deal to keep Kyle Lowry in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a 1-year deal to keep Kyle Lowry in the city of Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia 76ers are still in the process of filling out the roster in an effort to build the right roster around their Big 3 of Paul George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. They have brought in proven veterans and will now keep one of their own.

Kyle Lowry, who was picked up off the buyout market back in February, has agree to a 1-year deal to return to the Sixers. The Philadelphia native averaged 8.0 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 40.4% from deep in 23 games with 20 starts with the Sixers after starting the season with the Miami Heat. His veteran presence was able to help Maxey move forward in his development as a lead guard.

Lowry will look to keep things going in Philadelphia. He was a key cog in what they wanted to do and he still has some game left. He will be a very nice bench piece for this group as they move forward in the second season under coach Nick Nurse.

Andre Drummond recalls first stint with Sixers, wants to win in Philadelphia

Andre Drummond reflected on his first stint with the Philadelphia 76ers and expressed his desire to win in Philadelphia.

CAMDEN, N.J. — While the biggest name the Philadelphia 76ers acquired in free agency is Paul George, the Sixers also brought in another important piece in Andre Drummond. Philadelphia needed a backup center to Joel Embiid and they got a good one.

Drummond played for the Sixers to begin the 2021-22 season before he was sent to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden deal. The big man expressed in the past that he was upset with the trade as he enjoyed his time in Philadelphia.

Now that he’s back with the Sixers, Drummond recalled his first stint with the team and is looking forward to winning with this team.

“There’s a few things,” he started. “First of all, just the city itself, the way they embraced me. Coming here and being one of the guys that went up against Embiid early in his career, battled with him, and had those long nights–and to be here now, to play alongside of him, have him embrace me and be here to help him out in the best way I can, and then the team! We had a great core here. We’ve still got some guys left, so I’m excited to see those guys again.”

The veteran out of UConn then turned his attention to the fan base. He wasn’t a favorite of the Philadelphia fans before his stint with the Sixers, but he grew to love them and they loved him back.

“Philly definitely is one of the best fan bases I’ve played for — easily,” Drummond stated. “It’s definitely one of the top fan bases I’ve played for. I love playing here.”

Drummond has historically been one of the top rebounders in the history of the NBA. He is a 2-time All-Star and a starter on playoff teams in the past. He isn’t worried about any of that now. The goal is to win and to do it in Philadelphia so he is ready for any role coach Nick Nurse has in store for him.

“That ship has sailed,” Drummond added. “I don’t really care anymore. That ego is gone. I’m here to win basketball games. I think individually, I’ve done everything I can to make my career what it is, but at this point, I wanna win so I’m happy with whatever role I can get.”

New addition Eric Gordon explains what Sixers are getting in Paul George

Eric Gordon explains what the Philadelphia 76ers are getting in new star Paul George.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy offseason highlighted by the addition of Paul George. The idea is that George will form an elite trio with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and help the Sixers finally get over the hump in the East.

However, the Sixers also need to put a team around those three stars. They have done a solid job thus far with the additions of Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, and Caleb Martin while also bringing back Kelly Oubre Jr. On paper, this is a very talented Sixers team.

Gordon played briefly with George in the 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Clippers and gave his thoughts on what the Sixers are getting in the 9-time All-Star.

“Paul has always been a good teammate,” said Gordon. “You guys will see and his demeanor and he always comes ready to play. I think he’s going to fit in well for this team because he brings a different dynamic. He’s definitely a two-way player. I just like his demeanor for this team and I think he’s gonna love it, and so, I think it’ll work out well.”

It’s obvious what George brings to the table. He has been a dominant player in the league for a long time and he will look to carry that over to Philadelphia. Even in his 14th season, he did average 22.6 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 41.3% from deep on 7.9 attempts per night.

Gordon shot 42.3% from deep for the Clippers while playing next to George and Kawhi Leonard. One has to assume that he will be able to shoot somewhere around that percentage for Philadelphia with both George and Embiid flanking him.

Sixers star Joel Embiid fouls out in Team USA showcase win over Canada

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid fouls out in 12 minutes as Team USA was able to defeat Canada in the basketball showcase.

Team USA began their quest for a gold medal in the 2024 Olympics on Wednesday night when they took on Canada in an exhibition match in Las Vegas. It allowed coach Steve Kerr and Co. to see what they have and what needs to be corrected.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid made his Olympic debut and it was a bit of a struggle for him as he adjusts to the game. He fouled out in only 12 minutes while scoring five points with six rebounds and four turnovers. He shot 2-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-2 from the line.

The Sixers star was able to help Team USA turn things around to defeat Canada 86-72 after a slow start, but Embiid will certainly have to adjust a bit to FIBA rules and make an impact on the floor.

The Americans will next play on July 15 when they take on Australia in Abu Dhabi. That will give Embiid a few days to look at the tape and get back to his normal dominant self.

Stephen A. Smith picking Sixers over Knicks in Eastern Conference race

Stephen A. Smith is picking the Philadelphia 76ers over the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.

The 2024 offseason has been a hectic one in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics are the defending champs and teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks, and others are in the process of chasing the Cs to take them down.

The Sixers had a huge offseason bringing in Paul George to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and form the most talented Big 3 in the East. They also brought in Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, and Eric Gordon in an effort to form a contending team.

The Knicks also made a big move by bringing in Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets. Avid Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith hopped on “The OGs Show” and is picking the Sixers over the Knicks:

If Embiid is healthy, there’s no excuses. Embiid on one leg averaged 35 against the Knicks on one leg. We know how big-time Embiid is. We know that Tyrese Maxey is special. Brother got a $204 million extension. I feel sorry for him. He deserved more. I know that’s the max they could give him you know, but I’m just talking about his greatness. He deserved more. I know they couldn’t give him more, but he deserved more. If Paul George is what Paul George is supposed to be, Maxey, Embiid, and Paul George, as much as I love my Knicks, orange and blue skies, baby. They don’t come before Philly and Boston. We know Boston’s on another level. They the champions. They the reigning defending champions and we’ll see what happens with them, but Embiid with Maxey and Paul George? Yes, I believe in that. That’s big.

It remains to be seen if the big George addition will work out, but it’s obvious that on paper, the Sixers are a talented bunch. If healthy in the playoffs, then they should be the biggest challenger to the Celtics in the East. Of course, injuries are always a big “if”, but Philadelphia should be able to get over the hump finally and make a run at the title.

Tobias Harris posts heartfelt goodbye to Sixers fans, city of Philadelphia

Tobias Harris takes to Instagram to post a heartfelt goodbye to the city of Philadelphia and the 76ers fan base.

It’s no secret that Tobias Harris had a bit of a rocky tenure as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. The numbers were solid. In his 5.5 seasons with the Sixers, he averaged 17.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while shooting 36.9% from deep and having his role change constantly.

There were plenty of times when the Sixers would ask him to do different things year in and year out. He would not pout or complain or anything of the sort. He would always go out there and do his job, but the fan base was particularly tough on him mostly due to the amount of money he was making.

With Harris now off to the Detroit Pistons in free agency, he posted a heartfelt goodbye to Sixers fans and the city of Philadelphia on his Instagram. He thanked the fans for their unwavering support and wished the city the best as he moves on back to the Motor City.

Harris will always be a solid player in Sixers lore. He always produced at a consistent level. He was just caught up under the pressure of his contract which comes with scrutiny in Philadelphia.
