Steelers C Mason Cole says no fantasy football for him

The Steelers center wants no part of fantasy football.

NFL players are people too and plenty of them love to play fantasy football. Players partaking in fantasy football is something of a gray area in terms of the rules and any player who wants to be a part of a league has to be mindful so as not to violate the league’s policy on gambling.

Pittsburgh Steelers center Mason Cole plays it safe and says he does not play, even for fun. Cole said he gets plenty of friends and family asking for advice but he shuts them all done.

Cole is set to be the Steelers starting center for a second straight season. Cole started all 17 games last season after coming to Pittsburgh from the Minnesota Vikings.

Steelers training camp: Check out this ridiculous catch by WR George Pickens

George Pickens is already making plays at training camp.

It only took one padded practice for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens to make a highlight-reel catch. Check out the video below as Pickens goes up and over, contorting his body to make a ridiculous catch over rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

After the catch, Pickens showboated a bit and chucked football into the chest of Porter, a move the rookie didn’t appreciate it. After practice, Porter said he couldn’t believe Pickens found a way to catch it but was fine with the extracurriculars. “Iron sharpens iron,” Porter said.

Pickens quickly developed his reputation for the circus catches at training camp last season. It carried over into the regular season and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on first padded practice: ‘It’s a beautiful day for you football lovers’

The Steelers put on the pads on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers got down to some real football with the team’s first padded practice at training camp. Head coach Mike Tomlin referred to unpadded workouts as soccer practice, and things get real when the pads come on.

There are several big position battles Tomlin will be keeping an eye on. The battle for left tackle between Dan Moore Jr. and Broderick Jones is the headliner. Jones was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft to supplant Moore, but the veteran isn’t giving up without a fight.

Then there are all of those inside linebackers hoping to win a starting job. Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb, Kwon Alexander and Mark Robinson are all solid but flawed players, and each is looking to carve out a role on the defense.

Tomlin seemed more excited about getting the pads on than the players as the team warmed up. The Steelers play their first preseason game on Aug. 11 when they travel to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers.

White spent two seasons at South Carolina after starting his career at Florida State before transferring to a community college. White has spent time at linebacker and running back during his college career and his physical running style is his trademark.
