Ravens LB Patrick Queen talks about disrespectful interaction with Steelers HC Mike Tomlin

Patrick Queen took it personally when Mike Tomlin said he wasn’t a Raven during his rookie season.

The rivalry between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens has always been fierce and physical, and is easily one of the best in the NFL. But as heated as it has always been, it has usually been grounded in mutual respect. That doesn’t seem to be the case for Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen in relation to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

Queen shared a story from his rookie season in 2020. He made a tackle on the Steelers sideline, and Tomlin screamed at him repeatedly: “You’re not a Raven! You’re not a Raven! You’re not supposed to be there! You’re not one of them!” Queen took that as disrespect. He carries that with him when he plays the Steelers. The reference was to the fact that even among Ravens players, you aren’t a Raven until you beat the Steelers.

The Steelers split with the Ravens last season but hold a 5-1 advantage over the last six games. Queen has been the Ravens linebacker in all those games, so it took until his fifth matchup before he got that win.

Steelers vs Ravens: 8 players make Wednesday practice report with injuries

The Steelers had six players miss Wednesday practice and two more were limited.

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers got back to work with a hobbled roster, hoping to get things in order before they take on the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. Here are the eight Steelers who showed up on the practice report on Wednesday with some sort of injury.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett plans to play vs Ravens: ‘I’ll be ready to go by Sunday’

Kenny Pickett suffered a knee injury last week but plans to play on on Sunday.

Last week, when Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett went down against the Houston Texans, the injury looked serious. He went down in a heap and I think everyone assumed the worst. Fast-forward just three days and Pickett says he will be good to go on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Pickett has a bone bruise on his knee and was wearing a brace when he spoke to the media on Wednesday. Pickett did note that he isn’t sure if he will be wearing the brace on Sunday.

This season has been a nightmare for Pickett and the rest of the Steelers offense. This is bizarre considering how well the starters played in preseason, going five for five on drives. Nevertheless, the Steelers offense is still in search of an identity and they will now trot out an injured Pickett against a Ravens team built to take advantage of any weakness.

NFL experts give Steelers little hope against Ravens in Week 5

Most experts are taking the Ravens this week over the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens are teams headed in opposite directions. The Ravens are 3-1 and finding their groove at the quarter turn of the season, and the Steelers are 2-2 but have completely lost their way.

NFL pundits seem to share this point of view about this week’s showdown. We look to our friends over at NFL Pick Watch for just how bad it is. They aggregate expert picks from all over the internet.

According to them, an overwhelming 86 percent of the experts are taking the Ravens this week. They also have a fan vote, and the news is even worse: 96 percent of fans are taking Baltimore over Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is looking at a brutal matchup. Quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with a bone bruise on his knee, and his status is in question. He is just one of several Steelers starters who are either out or questionable for this game.

Time is now for Steelers OT Broderick Jones with Dan Moore Jr. out

Broderick Jones will get the start while Dan Moore is out.

According to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. is going to miss time with the knee injury he suffered against the Houston Texans. This means it is time to see what the Steelers have in rookie Broderick Jones.

Jones came in for Moore early in Sunday’s blowout loss. He ended up playing 51 total snaps, had no penalties and didn’t allow a sack. As a full unit, the Steelers line was dreadful but while Jones didn’t play poorly and showed some potential.

The Steelers traded up in the first round of the 2023 draft to select the former Georgia star. With Moore being out multiple weeks, Jones has a perfect opportunity to establish himself as the future of the left tackle position in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh will also be without starting tight end Pat Freiermuth for an extended period of time with a hamstring injury. This means the left side of the offensive line would be Jones with former teammate Darnell Washington. These two were drafted because they dominated the line of scrimmage in the run game but we will see if they can do it in the NFL.
