Steelers vs Ravens: Keys to victory this week

The Steelers must establish the run this week and maintain controlled pressure on Lamar Jackson.

Despite the fact that no one is giving the Pittsburgh Steelers a chance to beat the Baltimore Ravens this week, the team is preparing as if they can bounce back from last week’s loss. Here are our Steelers keys to victory.

Steelers vs Ravens: 4 bold predictions this week

We predict a big game from Najee Harris and T.J. Watt this week.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing as badly as they have been, trying to be bold with these predictions gets a little tougher. The Steelers are 2-2 but the record might fool you into thinking this is a good football team when it isn’t. Nevertheless, let’s stay positive and let’s get bold.

Steelers fans to set the tone on Sunday vs the Ravens

Steelers fans are going to let Mike Tomlin hear it on Sunday if the offense struggles.

The story on Sunday might not have anything to do with the final score of this week’s game. When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens square off, the biggest story might be the reaction of the fan base.

Steelers fans have joined the scores of NFL pundits and writers who are calling for the Steelers to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada for the good of the franchise. However, head coach Mike Tomlin remains stubborn in his stance that this team isn’t making any staff changes.

But if things go wrong on Sunday with the offense, you are going to hear more boos and “fire Canada” chants than ever. And it isn’t going to be something the media will be able to ignore and it won’t be something Tomlin can ignore.

There have even been some rumblings that the fans aren’t secretly rooting for a loss this week to force Tomlin’s hand. That’s definitely a step too far and no one should actively cheer for Pittsburgh to lose if you are a fan.

Nevertheless, as someone who has been a fan of the Steelers for 45 years and watched them trot out some terrible teams, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fanbase so furious with the situation. This could be the ugliest scene at home for Pittsburgh in a very long time if the offense doesn’t come out of the gates fast.

Steelers vs Ravens: 4 players to watch this week

We are looking for big games from Najee Harris and T.J. Watt against the Ravens.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens square off on Sunday, there are going to be lots of new faces in the Steelers starting lineup. Injuries have forced Pittsburgh to really shuffle its roster all over the place. Here are the four Steelers we will be keeping a close eye on this week.

Steelers vs Ravens: Who ya got?

Cast your vote and make your prediction for this week’s Steelers’ game.

Every week we share a poll with everyone to get a feel for the pulse of the Pittsburgh Steelers fanbase. Typically this group is a bit biased but fair for the most part. That bias will be put to the test with this week’s poll. The Steelers are taking on the Baltimore Ravens in Pittsburgh and the Steelers don’t have a whole lot to be optimistic about.

Unfortunately, Pittsburgh has been inconsistent on both sides of the football this season. For every great play either unit makes, they follow it up with two bad ones. In the team’s two wins, it has come down to a handful of big plays making up for the bad, allowing the Steelers to squeak by.

The Ravens on the other hand have been playing very consistent football. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is having one of his best seasons and despite some shortcomings at running back, have been able to keep their offense balanced.

4 reasons the Steelers can beat the Ravens

Here are four reasons why we believe the Steelers can beat the Ravens this week.

On paper, there is very little reason for anyone to believe the Pittsburgh Steelers can beat the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. But as we all know, games aren’t played on paper. Pittsburgh has an opportunity to take the lead in the AFC North on Sunday and go into the bye week and try to reset for the final 12 games. We remain cautiously optimistic this week and here’s why.

Steelers vs Ravens: Tale of the tape looks ugly for Pittburgh

By the numbers, the Steelers are seriously overmatched against the Ravens this week.

Here is how the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens measure up ahead of this week’s game. The Ravens are hoping to hold onto their lead in the AFC North and the Steelers hope they can rally from a blowout loss to take over the lead in the North heading into the bye week.

5 Steelers starters OUT vs Ravens

The Steelers will be minus five starters this week against the Baltimore Ravens including Pat Freiermuth and Pressley Harvin III.

The Pittsburgh Steelers released its game-status reporter and in addition to starting EDGE Alex Highsmith being questionable for Sunday’s game with the Baltimore Ravens, five starters are listed as OUT for this week’s game.

Steelers vs Ravens: EDGE Alex Highsmith misses Thursday practice

The Steelers could be without Alex Highsmtih against the Ravens this week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers added edge Alex Highsmith to the injury report on Thursday. There had been no word of an injury earlier in the week but popped up with a groin injury. The Steelers are preparing to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

If Highsmith cannot go, it will be some combination of veteran Markus Golden and rookie Nick Herbig opposite T.J. Watt. The Steelers outside pass rush has been grossly inconsistent this season, going from unstoppable to invisible week to week. Highsmith has been Defensive Player of the Week this season and Watt was named Defensive Player of the Month for September.

Last week was particularly discouraging with Watt and Highsmith shut out by backup offensive tackles on the Houston Texans.

Friday’s practice report will determine if Highsmith’s availability on Sunday. Pittsburgh is currently 2-2 despite their struggles and a win on Sunday would put Pittsburgh in first place in the AFC North heading into the bye week.

Steelers vs Ravens: This week’s game loaded with concerns

How healthy is this team and how much do they want it?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are limping into Week Five of the NFL season sitting at 2-2 and beaten and battered. They are home this week but there is no letup with the 3-1 Baltimore Ravens coming to town. If the Steelers can make it past this game, they will get a bye week to hopefully heal up and reset for the rest of the season.

Here are our big concerns for this week’s game.
