5 highest-graded Steelers vs the Ravens per PFF

Which Steelers checks in as the highest-graded player from last week’s win over the Ravens?

The folks over at Pro Football Focus have taken on the monumental task of grading every snap of every NFL player every week. We might not understand how they do it and the grades don’t always pass the eyeball test but it is a great tool for comparison and to show growth.

The Steelers had a huge comeback win last week over the Baltimore Ravens and was led by the Steelers youth movement. Here are the five highest-graded Steelers from the big win.

Studs and duds from the Steelers 17-10 win over the Ravens

Players like T.J. Watt and George Pickens stepped up when the team needed them the most.

Holey cow, this Pittsburgh Steelers team can be exhausting. Pittsburgh took the Baltimore Ravens right to the buzzer on Sunday before they came out on top 17-10. This win was all about the big individual plays that turned the tide and made up for some really poor plays by others. Here are our studs and duds from this week’s huge win.

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren proved he should be the team’s feature back

Jaylen Warren’s ability to create when the offensive line struggles is reason enough to make him the primary back.

There is a ton to unpack from the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens and lots of questions to be answered. But one question that we believe was answered this week was who should be the Steelers feature back.

That job should belong to Jaylen Warren. But maybe not for the reason you think. We watched Warren get 40 rushing yards on nine carries on Sunday and 39 receiving yards on three catches and were impressed. Meanwhile starting running back Najee Harris had 37 rushing yards on 14 carries and one catch for three yards.

The reason Warren proved himself on Sunday and frankly for much of the season is because the offensive line isn’t very good. Wait, what? Just hear me out. Any running back that is going to be successful behind a line as inconsistent as this one, they have to be able to create on their own. This is something Warren does well and something Harris struggles with. For this reason alone, Warren should be the primary back.

As of now, the Steelers are essentially splitting snaps between the two. When the team returns off the bye week, it would be prudent to give Waren 60 to 70 percent of the snaps, just to see if it can help win on not only possession downs but early downs as well where we often see Harris struggle.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett on his performance on Sunday: ‘Highest of highs and lowest of lows’

Kenny Pickett didn’t look good for most of Sunday’s win but he made the plays late when the team needed them most.

Over the course of three hours on Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett showed the very worst of his game and the very best all at the same time. Pickett finished with a modest 224 passing yards and one touchdown and after struggling for much of the game, saved the best for last.

After the game, Pickett talked about the emotions of such and up-and-down game and made sure to note how important it was for him that the fans stuck with them down the stretch. Pickett said he also hopes this late-game performance can be a spark for the team going forward.

Pickett’s late 41-yard touchdown pass to Pickens gave the Steelers their first lead of the game with only 2:09 seconds left. The Pickett to Pickens connection was strong with Pickens hauling in six passes for 130 yards. The Steelers now have a week off to reset themselves, make some adjustments and hopefully carry this momentum into the rest of the season.

Social media reacts to Steelers comeback win over Ravens

Despite the win, social media still wants Matt Canada gone.

It took all 60 minutes and the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t decide to start playing until the last 15 but somehow Pittsburgh pushed past the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 and took over the lead in the AFC North. Let’s take a look at what social media is saying about the win.

Instant analysis of the Steelers comeback win over the Ravens

The Steelers got help in all three phases to pull off the upset win over the Ravens.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens square off, you can always count on a few things. The game will be physical. The game will be close. And in recent history, the Steelers have come out on top.

Sunday’s game was no different. Pittsburgh looked lost for three full quarters before coming to life in the fourth and rallying late thanks to some huge individual plays on both sides of the ball to secure the 17-10 win.

This game had everything. A blocked punt, a safety, turnovers, big plays on offense, big plays on defense and even some clock controversy. In the end, it might not have been pretty but it was effective and Steelers are now 3-2 and the leaders of the AFC North and this team is now 3-1 going against Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The Steelers now enter the bye week and can start to prepare for the final 12 games of the season. This team is far from a finished product but they continue to find ways to be good enough to win, especially following a big loss.
