Big takeaways from the Steelers 2023 NFL schedule

The Steelers will travel much more this season than in the past.

On Thursday, the NFL released its 2023 schedule for all 32 franchises. We’ve already talked about the Pittsburgh Steelers finally getting a home game to open the season after all those years as well as the four prime time matchups. But here are some more interesting takeaways from the schedule.

Steelers land 4 games in prime time in 2023

The Steelers play in prime time twice in the first three weeks of the season.

On Thursday, the NFL released the full 2023 schedule. The Pittsburgh Steelers are always a popular draw with a strong worldwide fanbase so the league is always tempted to put Pittsburgh in as many prime time games as possible.

This season, the league put the Steelers in four games in prime time with six being the max. By comparison, the Los Angeles Chargers lead the league with six games in prime time.

Pittsburgh gets half of those games out of the way by the third week of the season. After opening the season at home, the Steelers welcome the Cleveland Browns to town for Monday Night Football and then after returning home must fly all the way to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders on Sunday Night Football the following week.

Here is the Pittsburgh Steelers full 17-game, regular-season schedule.

The Steelers will open up the year at home against the San Francisco 49ers, and make their first road trip in Week 3 to face the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Steelers’ bye falls early in the year at Week 6, which means Pittsburgh’s regular-season will include a stretch of 12 consecutive games – ending with back-to-back road games in Seattle and Baltimore.
