4 players on the Vikings injury report: Andrew Booth Jr. isn’t

Andrew Booth Jr. finally escapes the injury report

The Minnesota Vikings had their first practice of the week on Wednesday leading up to their clash with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

That first practice came with news that the Dolphins would likely be starting rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson with both Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater in the concussion protocol.

After the Vikings finished practice, they released their injury report and it only contained four names.

The good news is two-fold for the Vikings. Seeing all four players practice in at least a limited capacity is a great thing as well as seeing cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. off of the list for the first time since before week one against the Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings are still relatively healthy and that is the direct opposite of the Dolphins, who are definitely hurting by injuries right now.

Dolphins remove ping pong table from locker room before game vs Vikings

The Dolphins are getting ready for Sunday’s game by taking a ping-pong table out of the locker room

When the Minnesota Vikings take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, the Dolphins will have a lot of issues on their hands.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will practice this week after suffering a concussion two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals but he is unlikely to play with a concussion. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is also questionable while being in the concussion protocol, leading to rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson likely receiving the start on Sunday.

Leading up to the game, head coach Mike McDaniel had a press conference in the media where he told the media multiple things, including that they took the team’s ping pong table out of the locker room.

Yes, a ping-pong table.

The idea came from the team captains as they wanted to make sure all the focus was on the Vikings. With all of the injury issues that the Dolphins have, this makes sense but to actually come out and say it isn’t a good look.

Dalvin Cook dominates Florida teams in his home state

Cook is a dominant force when playing in Florida

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was a superstar from the get-go in Miami, FL. A four-star recruit, he flipped from Florida to Florida State right before signing day. Once he got to Tallahassee, Cook shined on the field.

It was that success at Florida State that had the Vikings enamored enough with him to move up in the second round to take him at 41st overall.

Part of the reason why they were so enamored with him was his dynamic performances. He was excellent in big games but particularly thrived playing against other Florida teams in the same state.

Earlier on Wednesday, Cook put out a call on Twitter asking if anyone had those stats handy.

Sports Illustrated’s Will Ragatz had that ready to roll and oh boy, are they dominant.

Only one game without a touchdown and two games under 172 yards is excellent. Even his one game in the NFL had Cook go off for 110 yards and a touchdown against a really good Buccaneers defense.

Going down to his hometown of Miami could easily produce similar results.

Former Saints LB Jonathan Vilma to call Sunday’s Vikings game

Vikings fans are not too thrilled with this broadcast crew

The Minnesota Vikings sit at 4-1 on the season and head down to Miami to face the 3-2 Dolphins. The game kicks off on Fox at noon at Hard Rock Stadium.

Fox announced the broadcast crew for Sunday’s week six clash and the Vikings draw a crew that isn’t well-liked by the fanbase. Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma and Shannon Spake will be on the call.

Albert, son of legendary broadcaster Marv Albert, has been calling games for Fox for the better part of three decades. He is one of the better announcers in football. Spake is also a really good sideline reporter.

Some fans have expressed some annoyance that Vilma will be calling the game on Sunday considering that he was the main catalyst on the player side of Bounty Gate. He was suspended for the 2012 season for his actions.

Vikings open as 3.5-point favorites in Week 6 vs Dolphins

The Vikings are a decent-size favorite over the Dolphins on Sunday

The Minnesota Vikings enter week six with a record of 4-1 and head to Miami as a considerable road favorite at 3.5 points this Sunday afternoon per Tipico Sportsbook.

In truly impressive fashion, the Vikings have lost each of their last three games against the spread by 0.5 points. Last week’s loss against the spread makes the Vikings record 1-4. They are better hitting the over, having done so in each of the last three games.

The Dolphins are on the other end of the spectrum. Their record both straight up and against the spread is the same at 3-2 while the under has hit in three of their last five.

The line skewing toward the Vikings is mainly due to the Dolphins having issues at the quarterback position. The Dolphins might be in line to start third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson due to both Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater being in concussion protocol.

The Vikings could be facing a third string quarterback on Sunday

The Vikings could have a much easier quarterback to face than they initially thought

After beating the Chicago Bears by a score of 29-22, the Minnesota Vikings are ready to move forward to week six where they travel to Miami to face the Dolphins.

With the Vikings sitting at 4-1, their game against the Dolphins will be their last before they have their bye in week seven. Sitting at 3-2 currently, the Dolphins lost a tough divisional game to their rival New York Jets by a score of 40-17.

During the game, the Dolphins, who are already without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, lost their backup and former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater got hurt on the first play and missed the rest of the game. He was placed in the concussion protocol and could potentially miss Sunday’s game.

Rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson played the majority of the game and the Dolphins didn’t fare so well. He went 19-of-33 for 166 yards and one interception. They were hindered majorly in regards to moving the football and the running game was mostly shut down.

If Thompson does have to start on Sunday, the Vikings could be in for an easier game than they would have had with either Bridgewater or Tagovailoa.
