When it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, the cliche about throwing out the records really is true. This is the best rivalry in the AFC and one of the best in all of the NFL. That’s why the line in this game is always close.

Currently, Tipico Sportsbook has the Steelers as 3.5-point road underdogs, which makes sense. In the last five matchups, neither team has won a game by more than five points.

Earlier in the season the Steelers and Ravens squared off in Pittsburgh with the Ravens coming out on top 16-14. The Ravens are already in the playoffs and the Steelers are fighting to stay in the hunt. Pittsburgh is one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now with a 5-2 record over the past seven games and seems to have improved in several areas since losing to the Ravens earlier in the season.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh coy about status of Lamar Jackson: ‘We’ll just have to see’

John Harbaugh isn’t saying if Lamar Jackson is practicing this week.

The first time the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens squared off, quarterback Lamar Jackson was out with a knee injury. That same knee injury has his status up in the air for this week’s rematch with the Steelers. Head coach John Harbaugh was asked if Jackson would practice this week and Harbaugh gave nothing away about the potential future of Jackson.

The Ravens have already secured a spot in the playoffs and with only two games left could be tempted to leave Jackson on the bench another week and play him in the season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

When these two teams squared off three weeks ago, the Steelers defense put up little resistance and even after backup Tyler Huntley went down with an injury, the Ravens just kept running all over the Steelers defense.

Steelers vs Ravens: 4 storylines for this week

Pickett gets another shot at the Ravens and Pittsburgh gets to try out its new and improved run defense.

With just two games left in the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are making a final push to sneak into the playoffs. Standing in their way this week are the Baltimore Ravens. Here are the storylines to keep an eye on this week.

Ravens LB Patrick Queen takes shot at Steelers after schedule change

Patrick Queen isn’t interested in a flexed-out game against the Steelers.

The first time the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens played this season, it was a typical Ravens/Steelers rivalry game. Baltimore got the best of Pittsburgh 16-14 in a physical showdown. Now we fast-forward three weeks and the two teams are getting ready for a rematch with playoff implications for both sides.

This is why the game got flexed to Sunday Night Football. But according to Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen, it doesn’t make sense to flex the game. We can all draw our own conclusions about what Queen meant but it feels a lot like Queen doesn’t have must respect for the Steelers as opponents.

Hopefully, the Steelers will use this type of disrespect as motivation this week. If the Steelers lose next week they will be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs but as long as they keep winning, they stay in the mix.

For the second time this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have a game on the schedule flexed. Back in early November, the Steelers Sunday night Week 11 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals was flexed out of prime time because of how poorly the Steelers were playing. This time around the Steelers are getting their Week 17 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens is being moved to the Sunday Night Football spot.

They will replace the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers who were supposed to play on prime time. Pittsburgh lost to the Ravens 16-14 in Week 14. The Ravens have already secured a playoff spot but are jockeying for position in the AFC while the Steelers continue to cling to the slimmest of hopes to be a wild card.
