It’s hard to believe that week 17 is already here. We are just two weeks away from playoff football and the field is far from being set. There are multiple games on the slate that have playoff implications and one that has more than the rest of them is Monday Night Football with the Buffalo Bills taking on the Cincinnati Bengals.
The slate has each market getting two games on CBS and one on Fox with the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Green Bay Packers as the national game in the afternoon.
Here are the games that each market will be getting on Sunday.
Our staff predicts the border battle with that team from Wisconsin
What a wild rivalry week this has been. One Green Bay Packers podcaster Peter Butkowski made Twitter a warzone when he spent the entire week egging on Minnesota Vikings fans by calling the team fraudulent.
The game itself is a big one, as both teams are fighting for playoff position. Last season saw it be the same thing but in reverse with the Packers having already clinched the division.
The Vikings have a chip on their shoulder with the label of fraudulent being tossed at them left and right.
Our staff predicted the game and for the first time, were split on the outcome.
The Packers cornerback didn’t hold back when talking about Jefferson
The rivalry between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers is a contentious one both between the fans and the organization. Bragging rights are huge for both sides and the Vikings currently have them after a 23-7 win over the Packers in week one.
In that game, wide receiver Justin Jefferson torched the Packers to the tune of nine receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown. Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander called that performance a fluke.
“He don’t jump into no supersuit, get dressed and go outside, you hear me? I don’t either sometimes, but he human is what I’m saying. We ain’t putting too much on him, he’s a really good receiver by the end of the day. I’m a really good corner, we’ve got really good corners, we’ve got really good linebackers you know, d-line whatever it is. You don’t want to put too much focus on that one person cause, like, the first game that was a fluke.”
Could it have been a fluke? Possibly, but I think Jefferson setting a ton of records over the next 14 games nullifies that argument. Maybe Alexander is just bitter that his defensive coordinator didn’t trust him enough to follow Jefferson. That isn’t a fluke.
Jaire Alexander's thoughts on #Vikings WR Justin Jefferson. Said he's a top-3 receiver in the NFL, but JJ's 9 receptions for 184 yards and 2 TDs in Week 1 against the #Packers was a "fluke." pic.twitter.com/yqZIoP6ktM
The rivalry is ready to be rekindled on Sunday afternoon when the Minnesota Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers. Before the game occurs, it’s a good idea to understand where they are at.
They have a chance to make the playoffs but it will require them to win their final two games over both the Vikings and Detroit Lions.
We took a look at the Packers and found five things that you need to know heading into Sunday.
The Minnesota Vikings historically have their games against the rival Green Bay Packers in a big spot and that will be the case this upcoming Sunday afternoon in the 3:25 central time slot. They will have the top CBS broadcast crew of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson call the game.
The Vikings have had this crew call one other game this season. It also happened to be the worst one of the year when the Dallas Cowboys defeated them by a score of 40-3 on November 20th.
Unfortunately for the Viking, they don’t have the best track record with the duo of Nantz and Romo calling their games, as it hasn’t gone well. Over their three games that the duo have called, the Vikings are 0-3 with a point differential of -72.
There's no reason for me to retain this time of trivia, but the last three times Jim Nantz has announced the #Vikings were the Buffalo game 2018, @ Chicago 2019 and today. #Vikings scored six points in each of the previous two and were thoroughly embarrassed — and today is worse
