When Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media after the team’s disappointing 26-17 loss, he talked about the laundry list of injuries the Steelers dealt with before and during the game.

Tomlin pointed out that the groin injuries suffered by cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Devin Bush occurred in practice on Friday, which made them unavailable on Sunday. He had no further update on them other than they couldn’t go.

Tomlin also noted that starting nose tackle Tyson Alualu suffered a fractured ankle and would miss some time. Tomlin also indicated linebacker T.J. Watt suffered a groin injury and wide receiver Diontae Johnson injured his knee but he had no further updates on either player at this time.

Injuries, ineptitude lead to Steelers upset loss to Raiders

The Steelers offense fell flat in their loss to the Raiders.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Injuries happen. The Las Vegas Raiders came into their Sunday game with the Pittsburgh Steelers hobbled on both sides of the ball. But it didn’t stop them from upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-17.

The Steelers lost multiple players to injuries during the game including nose tackle Tyson Alualu and outside linebacker T.J. Watt. This was in addition to having starting cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Devin Bush being inactive.

But none of this matters in the final analysis. The Steelers offense continues to underperform and despite all these skill players, do less with more like no other team in the NFL.

The loss pull the Steelers to 1-1 and in a time in the AFC North and another home game coming up this weekend. Pittsburgh has to find a way to manufacture yards and points if they hope to keep pace with the rest of the AFC.

Steelers vs Raiders inactives: Joe Haden and Devin Bush out

The Steelers defense takes a hit this week with inactives.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

That elite Pittsburgh Steelers defense is going into today’s game with the Las Vegas Raiders in rough shape. The team announced their inactives for this week’s game and are minus two starting defenders.

Here’s the full list of inactives:

LB Devin Bush

CB Joe Haden

QB Dwayne Haskins

DL Carlos Davis

G Rashaad Coward

The biggest task for the Steelers defense today is to try to slow down Raiders star tight end Darren Waller. Not having Bush and Haden in the lineup makes this an even greater challenge. Both guys are dealing with groin injuries.

In terms of replacements, James Pierre will replace Haden on the outside at cornerback with more Justin Layne in sub-package defense and in place of Bush, look for a much heavier workload for Joe Schobert but his direct replacement is likely to be Robert Spillane.

Steelers stay heavy favorites over Raiders in Week Two

The Steelers are 6.5-point favorites this week over Las Vegas.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

According to the smart guys at Tipico Sportsbook, the Pittsburgh Steelers are currently 6.5-point home favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders this week. The Steelers and Raiders both go into the game 1-0 after pulling off upset wins.

Last week, the Steelers were 6.5-point underdogs to the Buffalo Bills but didn’t seem to care once the game got going. Let’s hope the Raiders don’t show up at Heinz Field with that same attitude.

The Raiders are already dealing with a list of injuries including starting running back Josh Jacobs and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. Las Vegas is also piecing together its interior offensive line to account for injuries as well.

Steelers vs Raiders: 5 bold predictions for this week

Is this the week the Steelers offense breaks out? I say yes.

Last week, no one gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a chance to beat the Buffalo Bills. This week, everyone thinks the Steelers cannot lose to the Las Vegas Raiders. We tend to think this is going to be a huge game for the Steelers so here are five bold predictions for this week.

Rookie DL Isaiahh Loudermilk could see first NFL action vs Raiders

With the Steelers it is always about the next man up.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

On the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report this week, the team has defensive lineman Carlos Davis listed as OUT. With the Steelers commitment to a heavy rotation of defensive linemen, the team will have to replace him on the gameday roster this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Steelers made a bold trade in the 2021 NFL draft to acquire defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk. The Steelers didn’t have a fifth-round pick in the round so instead they traded their fourth-round pick in 2022 to get back into the draft just to select Loudermilk.

Loudermilk played pretty well in the preseason and could be the guy they call on this week to fill the void. Pittsburgh may also opt to activate veteran Henry Mondeaux from the practice squad but it seems more likely Loudermilk gets a chance to prove himself.

Steelers vs Raiders: DT Carlos Davis OUT against Las Vegas

The Steelers head into this week’s game healthy.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

For the most part, the Pittsburgh Steelers are healthy heading into their home opener of the season against the Las Vegas Raiders. The cannot be said for the Raiders who got hit hard by the injury bug after their first game.

Here’s the full rundown for Pittsburgh:

CB Joe Haden (Groin)-Questionable

LB Devin Bush (Groin)-Questionable

TE Zach Gentry (Ankle)-Questionable

DT Carlos Davis-OUT

Tight end Eric Ebron was a full participant on Friday and wasn’t listed on the injury report. He had missed Thursday’s practice. It’s also good to see linebacker Robert Spillane ready to roll after injuring his shin in pregame warmups last week forcing a quick roster change.

You can read the full injury report for the Raiders here. The list is highlighted by Las Vegas’ starting running back Josh Jacobs.
