Steelers vs Bills: James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster to practice again this week

The Steelers could use James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster this week.

Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to get running back James Conner back on the practice field in a limited role. This week it sounds as if Conner will once again give it a go in practice with the hope of playing this week against the Buffalo Bills.

According to head coach Mike Tomlin, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster could return to practice this week as well. Smith-Schuster has missed three straight starts with a knee injury.

Tomlin also noted that tight end Vance McDonald is in the concussion protocol and running back Jaylen Samuels is dealing with a groin injury.

If there was ever a weekend for the Steelers to have all hands on deck it is this week against the Bills. But truth be told, the absences of Conner and Smith-Schuster could be seen as blessings in disguise. The emergence of Benn Snell Jr. at running back and both Diontae Johnson and James Washington at wide receiver can only help this team down the stretch.

Steelers on pace to tie their own historic record

The Steelers defense has been truly elite this season.

The current streak the Pittsburgh Steelers are on can be directly attributed to the elevated play of the Steelers defense. This group has shrugged on their recent reputation as underachievers and among the very best in the NFL this season. If not for a rocky two games to start the season, this unit could be the very best in the league.

But perhaps more remarkable is the pace the Steelers are on in three separate categories. With three games to play the Steelers lead the league in sacks, quarterback hits and takeaways. A feat so remarkable the last team to do it was the 1974 Steelers defense. A defense easily among the top five of all time.

Steelers vs Bills will be a historic family affair

It will be a band of brothers this week for Steelers vs Bills.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers square off with the Buffalo Bills, something will happen for the first time in 92 years. There will be three brothers player in the same game. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, it’ll be safety Terrell Edmunds and running back Trey Edmunds. And for the Bills, it’s linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

The last time this happened was in 1927 when the Rooney brothers, Joe, Bill and Cobb all suited up for the Duluth Eskimos. Yep, that was a thing.

The Bills’ brother is the starting middle linebacker for Buffalo. He has 56 tackles on the season. For the Steelers, Terrell is the starting strong safety and has 83 total tackles. Trey saw some reps to help when injuries had shredded the Steelers running back depth chart. With a potential return of James Conner, his opportunities could be very limited.

Steelers to wear ‘Color Rush’ uniforms vs Bills on Sunday night

There’s no better alternative uniform than the Steelers Color Rush.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, they will once again wear the best alternative uniform in the history of the NFL. Yes, the Steelers will once again dress out in their Color Rush uniforms.

Pittsburgh first wore their Color Rush uniforms back in 2016 in a game versus the Baltimore Ravens. This game went down in history as the “immaculate extension” when Antonio Brown stretched across the goal line for the game-winning touchdown.

The Steelers are 5-1 wearing the uniforms with the one loss coming this season against the San Francisco 49ers.

Steelers open as home favorites to Bills this week

The Steelers are favored at home but not by much to the Buffalo Bills.

This week the Pittsburgh Steelers will have their final home game of the season when they take on the Buffalo Bills. The Steelers are playing for their playoff lives every week and with two road games to wrap up the season, they need a little more of the magic they have been playing with the last eight weeks.

The opening line for this week’s game on Bet MGM shows the Steelers as slight 2.5-point favorites. Considering the Bills are currently 9-4 and ahead of the Steelers in the playoff standings, this is generous.

Pittsburgh is 16-9 lifetime in the series and have won the last six and are 9-1 in the last 10. This game will be on Sunday Night Football and Pittsburgh is always a tough out on prime time TV.

Steelers Week 15 game vs Bills flexed to prime time

The Steelers get another night game.

The NFL has decided a matchup between two teams battling for playoff position in the AFC needed to be the nationally televised prime time game. So when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills square off on Week 15 they will have the night game as opposed to an early kickoff.

The Steelers currently sit in the No. 6 spot in the AFC thanks to going 6-2 over the last eight games. The Bill are currently 9-3 but because they have to play in the same division as the New England Patriots can do no better than the No. 5 seed in the AFC.
