The Arizona Cardinals started their game on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons with a new starting left guard. With Elijah Wilkinson on injured reserve and Trystan Colon ruled out for the second straight game with a calf injury, Dennis Daley was expected to get the start.
He didn’t.
It was Carter O’Donnell, who became the fourth player to start at left guard for Arizona.
O’Donnell had not even dressed for a game for the Cardinals until last week.
He finished the game at right guard when Will Hernandez exited with a knee injury.
He was even questionable to play this week. He suffered an ankle injury in practice.
Last week was his first NFL game and his start against the Falcons was the first of his career.
The Cardinals acquired O’Donnell via a waiver claim before the season began.
So far this season, Elijah Wilkinson started six games at left guard. Trystan Colon started two and Daley one before O’Donnell started on Sunday.
