Eagles fans have been clamoring for Carson Wentz to put the Eagles on his back for weeks and on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field, he did just that.
Wentz added a comeback win to his resume, with the 23-17 win over the New York Giants, in which Philadelphia was down 17-3 at the half.
The win saved their season as they moved to 6-7 and tied for first place with the Dallas Cowboys who have the same record.
Wentz looked lackluster early on but after some halftime adjustments and a quicker tempo, the Eagles were able to get things moving late in the third quarter. Wentz led the Eagles on a 10-play, 58-yard drive that was capped off by a two-yard touchdown run by the star of the game, running back Boston Scott.
A possession later, Wentz added to his legend, leading the team on a game-tying touchdown drive that saw Carson hit the tight end, Zach Ertz, coming across the middle for a two-yard score to pull the Eagles even, 17-17.
Then in overtime, Ertz called game, scoring on a similar route from the right side of the field to end the Giant’s dreams.
Wentz finished the game 33-50, for 325 yards and two touchdowns.
Boston Scott made big plays for the Eagles offense throughout the game and finished with 10 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown.
