Carson Palmer has interesting take on Joe Burrow, state of the Bengals

Carson Palmer has some interesting thoughts on Joe Burrow to the Bengals.

With Joe Burrow seemingly headed to the Cincinnati Bengals via the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft, it only makes sense the topic will come up whenever Carson Palmer gets an interview.

And Palmer has had another round of interviews recently where he touched on a range of topics concerning Burrow, from his time in Cincinnati to the actions of the front office.

Palmer appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” and heaped praise on Burrow, especially for his sheer talent and athleticism that made him so deadly in the SEC.

Interestingly, Palmer also noted Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin has done a really good job of acquiring talent lately *(h/t the Dayton Daily News’ Marcus Hartman):

“Yeah but the one thing — Duke Tobin has done a great job since he’s kind of seems like he’s been leading the charge as far as the draft process goes. There’s been some talent there. Whether the organization buys in and is fully going after a Super Bowl and really trying to win a Super Bowl is the other question, but talent-wise they’ve had some good players. I was fortunate to play with a lot of really good players. Just the receiver position — Chad Ochocinco (Johnson), T.J. Housmandzadeh, Peter Warrick, on and on — there were some really good skill players on the offensive side of the ball. You’ve still got A.J. Green. Hopefully he says he wants to come back…”

Palmer is right on many accounts. Tobin has done a relatively good job of building the roster since Palmer left and Burrow figures to enter a cozy situation thanks to skill players like Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard and John Ross, as well as perhaps the return of A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert.

But he’s also right on the front office wanting to contend. It seems things are headed that way again after a change at head coach and Tobin will get the benefit of building the roster around a rookie contract at quarterback.
