Carsen Edwards led the Maine Red Claws with 28 points in win on Sunday

The Celtics rookie also added a highlight-reel dunk in the win over the College Park Skyhawks.

Boston Celtics rookie Carsen Edwards scored 28 points on Sunday in a G League assignment to lead the Maine Red Claws to a 108-107 win over the College Park Skyhawks.

The second-round pick finished by shooting 10-of-19 from the field, including 4-of-11 from 3-point range, in 37 minutes of work. Edwards took the place of Tremont Waters, who is with the Celtics, as the lead guard on Sunday and he also added seven rebounds and four assists.

Edwards has played the past four games with the Red Claws on assignment after playing sparingly with the Celtics as of late. Edwards has responded by turning in back-to-back games with at least 28 points after scoring 33 on Friday against the Long Island Nets.

In addition to Edwards, Tacko Fall also suited up for the Red Claws on Sunday. The 7-foot-5 center finished with nine points, seven rebounds and one block after battling through foul trouble for much of the contest.

After his performance on Sunday, Edwards is now averaging 21.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals in 10 games with the Red Claws. He is 10th in the G League in scoring and 14th in steals.
