Boston Celtics rookie Carsen Edwards scored a career-high 41 points on assignment with the Maine Red Claws in the G League Saturday night in a 119-117 win over the Greensboro Swarm.
The second-round pick finished by shooting 14-of-28 from the field, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range. Edwards also added six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Edwards’ 41 points mark the eighth-most by an individual player in the G League this season as Justin Patton of the OKC Blue has the best performance with 45 points set on Jan. 14.
Edwards has seen limited action with the Celtics as of late and has played recently with the Red Claws. In 11 games in the G League, Edwards is averaging 23.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

After his performance on Saturday, Edwards is averaging 34 points over his last three games for the Red Claws.
While the Celtics haven’t needed Edwards for stretches this season, he has stayed ready when called upon and his time with the Red Claws has been a big reason why.
