The Bears are coming off a 20-19 home victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. Cairo Santos kicked the game-winning field goal with 1:17 remaining as the Bears, who were 3.5-point underdogs, snapped a short-lived one-game losing streak. QB Nick Foles threw for 243 yards and one touchdown (to TE Jimmy Graham) in his second start since replacing Mitchell Trubisky.
The Panthers also won as an underdog (+2.5) in Week 5, beating the Atlanta Falcons 23-16 on the road for their third consecutive win after dropping the first two games of the season. QB Teddy Bridgewater threw for 313 yards and two scores in the victory. Touchdown passes to WR DJ Moore and RB Mike Davis helped Carolina take a 20-7 halftime lead. Atlanta (0-5), which fired HC Dan Quinn after the game, was in a position to tie it midway through the fourth quarter, but S Juston Burris intercepted a QB Matt Ryan in the end zone.
