Carmelo Anthony explains feelings after first workout in Lakers gear

Carmelo Anthony is amped to be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, which he discussed after his first workout in the team’s colors.

Carmelo Anthony wrapped up his first workout wearing the purple and gold of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony, who signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum this offseason, is expected to have a role as a catch-and-shoot threat to provide spacing alongside the three stars of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.

Last year with the Portland Trail Blazers, Anthony nailed 40.9% of his triples, which marked a career-high through one full season with a team.

If he can replicate a similar shooting percentage this season, he should be key in a potential title run, defensive concerns aside.

The 37-year-old forward recently worked out at the Lakers practice facility for the first time and also wore the iconic purple and gold apparel. After his workout, he described how he felt wearing the gear, via Spectrum SportsNet:

“My first time being in the building, at the facility, on the court, still trying to get my bearings wrapped around my head the fact that I’m wearing this purple and gold,” Anthony said. “But my first workout went great today.”

Anthony went on to discuss the different vibe of being on a Lakers court compared to any other floor.

“Again, it’s just like any other court, but that purple and gold is different,” Anthony said. “It always has been, and it always will be. I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
