What figured to be a routine interview with Carlos Dunlap on Thursday turned some heads around the Cincinnati Bengals as the conversation shifted to an apparent demotion for the defensive end.
Dunlap shocked by telling reporters he was blindsided by an apparent demotion on the depth chart.
Dunlap, via The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr.: “You would think common decency would be something like that.”
And Dunlap was just getting started, taking aim at his apparent struggling in the running game being the reason for his demotion. He had other words for the overall defensive scheme too as the team gets ready to take on the Ravens:
Carlos Dunlap: "Evidently I didn't make enough tackles in the run game." https://t.co/lBe04kFmRI

Bengals DE Carlos Dunlap said it appears he'll be primarily be used an edge rusher on third down against BAL. He is not very happy about it.
Dunlap: "It appears we have a good game plan but I would like to be a part of it."

Dunlap clearly frustrated:
"I want to prepare for Baltimore but I have to prepare for the madness they're doing."— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonATH) October 8, 2020
We’ll have more from the interview soon, but it’s clear one of the team’s defensive leaders isn’t happy he’s technically not starting in favor of others like Carl Lawson.
