While some players have elected to keep their names on their jerseys instead of replacing them with social justice messages across their backs, members of the Brooklyn Nets organization are taking advantage of the opportunity the NBA has given them in the Disney World bubble.
Dzanan Musa recently revealed he has chosen the messages “Equality” and “Peace.”
The other approved messages by the league are “Black Lives Matter,” “Say Their Names,” “Vote,” “I Can’t Breathe,” “Justice,” “Freedom,” “Enough,” “Power to the People,” “Justice Now,” “Say Her Name,” “Sí Se Puede” (Yes We Can), “Liberation,” “See Us,” “Hear Us,” “Respect Us,” “Love Us,” “Listen,” “Listen to Us,” “Stand Up,” “Ally,” “Anti-Racist,” “I Am A Man,” “Speak Up,” “How Many More,” “Group Economics,” “Education Reform,” and “Mentor,” according to The Undefeated‘s Marc Spears.
Joe Harris revealed on Sunday to reporters on a Zoom call that his first option is also “Equality,” and his second is “Vote,” per Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News.
Caris LeVert, who attended multiple Black Lives Matter protests during the league’s hiatus, will dawn that same message as those protests, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
