Caris LeVert active in multiple Black Lives Matter protests: ‘Real change needs to come’

Caris LeVert took part in four to five Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd.

Following the death of George Floyd, multiple NBA players have taken part in Black Lives Matter protests across the United States.

Kyrie Irving did an Instagram Live broadcast from a protest he attended, and Jarrett Allen told reporters on a Zoom call on Thursday that he took part in a protest in Brooklyn. Nic Claxton also attended a protest, sharing a photo from a march.

While it’s unclear how many protests Irving and Claxton went to, Allen said on the call he attended one.

Although only there were only pictures of Caris Levert attending one protest, he told reporters on a Zoom call on Friday that he went to four or five. The Brooklyn wing is invested in the Black Lives Matter movement, and he hopes its momentum maintains, per Jennifer Williams of FOX 5 News:

I feel like real change needs to come. More conversations are being had and that’s the first step.

LeVert also added he intends to wear a social justice statement on his uniform if the league allows, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Daily News.

Not long after LeVert’s call, Marc Spears of The Undefeated reported the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association “reached an agreement Friday on social justice messages that can be displayed above the numbers on the backs of jerseys.”

The following statements have bee approved by the NBA and NBPA, per Spears:
